SKYWHUFFO 1 #1 April 21, 2007 awhile back it was released the Knights purchased a portable tunnel to travel with their demo teams. Is it currently traveling with them and is it assigned to a specific black or gold team? Was just curious They are going to be near me quite a few times this summer and was wondering if this was going to be with them? Anybody know????? SkymonkeyONE 4 #2 April 22, 2007 I am best friends with many, many people on the USAPT and I have never heard that rumor. I find it highly doubtful that it could be true because the Black and Gold demonstration teams travel to shows in their own airplane. There is no way in the world that a portable tunnel is going to fit inside a Fokker F-27 Friendship. As some of the teams' shows are overseas, this presents even more obstacles. PhreeZone 20 #3 April 22, 2007 Fastrax has a tunnel that is going with their demo team, might that be what you are thinking of?Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
SKYWHUFFO 1 #4 April 22, 2007 http://www.ausa.org/pdfdocs/NCO_Up_Q2.pdf Last page just below the new Army Tatoo ruling and a dog story. It's legit and it was the Knights. It would be interesting to see who started persuing this first the Knights or John Hart. Either way i think it s cool for both teams I cant' paste this article see web address above. It is an article with pics at the bottom of BK and Bill Van Solen demoing it with a civilian. They are considering using it as a recruiting tool. It would be stationed at fort knox not Bragg which was interesting, and the GK freefliers will be involved with it. What do you think Chuck? Will it "fly" no pun intended if they go ahead with it? Bodyflight.Net 0 #5 April 22, 2007 All I can say is that they were looking for something 'more' than was already in operation. But for sure the rumor isn't a rumor and it's legit. For sure I'll be going to fly it
SkymonkeyONE 4 #6 April 23, 2007 GK "freefliers" are the video guys on the tandem team. Actually, all the guys on the tandem team since they swap back and forth between hauling meat and jumping video. There are no "freefliers" on the demo teams. The tandem section sends members on the road to demos where they need to do VIP tandems. We have done a ton of "VIP" wind tunnel stuff at the Fort Bragg tunnel. My "fifteen minutes of fame" are the endless replays of the Behind Closed Doors with Joan Lunden series where she goes to the tunnel. I trained here, flew her in the tunnel, and was the guy she interviewed in there. I am going to have to ask around about this portable tunnel. Maybe John (SlotPerfect) has some additional information since he is still very-much in the GK loop. My biggest question would be "who the hell is going to get taked with pulling (or driving) the thing around? Particularly if they store it at a location other than Fort Bragg. riggerrob 643 #7 April 24, 2007 You might be able to stuff a soft-sided (i.e. inflatable walls) portable tunnel into a Fokker, but it would fill the entire Fokker! Hee! Hee!
SKYWHUFFO 1 #8 May 2, 2007 it looks like this won't be "VIP" stuff, it would be the normal joe in the audience to boost recruiting. I was just curious if this is rolling this summer and also PHREE or anyone, has Jon Hart and fastrax finally got their tunnel set up yet and any more info on it? I am happy to see he and Kip(skymonkey2) have a DZ open and running it by Cincy. They should do great.
