Hajo 0 #1 Posted December 1, 2016 Seems to be that 2017 will be a blast in tunnel-capacity in Germany. To the existing ISG in Bottrop, a couple of new facilities open at the bigger cities. Munich: Jochen Schweizer Arena in Taufkirchen in the south of Munich opens up in March. https://www.jochen-schweizer.de/arena/arena-bodyflying,default,pd.html Berlin: Hurricane Factory Berlin (Schoenefeld) is about to open in February. http://hurricanefactory.de/ Also Windobona Berlin opens the first ISG round chamber tunnel in the center of Berlin. http://windobona.de/ Frankfurt: Right next to the Airport in Frankfurt (Kelsterbach) the biggest tunnel with about 18 ft diameter opens up shortly before christmas. nice one > a 45 minute drive for me .. ;-)) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDeToxKBj3A Hamburg: Windobona promised a tunnel in Wandsbek ... http://www.shz.de/regionales/hamburg/skydiving-in-hamburg-fallschirmspringen-ohne-fallschirm-id13295691.html I´m curious if the promised openings are all on time (we all know construction sites ...) Seems that next year, spending money in tunnel hours is a lot more easy for me ;-)-------------------------------------------------- With sufficient thrust, pigs just fly well
FrancoR 0 #2 December 1, 2016 Add Another one to Munich. http://tunneltech.eu/ is opening another tunnel in Neufahrn. A few weeks ago i was at the site and there is a building there that looks like a tunnel so construction is on the way.If it does not cost anything you are the product. vincearnone 0 #3 December 1, 2016 Does anyone know about the project FlyHaus that has been announced for some time - but has had very few updates? Its on the list of German tunnels on ISS: http://www.indoorskydivingsource.com/tunnels/country/germany/Indoor Skydiving Source - The Leading Indoor Skydiving Resource
Hajo 0 #4 December 2, 2016 I suppose Fly Haus is Fly Zone. This is the one close to the Airport in Kelsterbach/Frankfurt. -------------------------------------------------- With sufficient thrust, pigs just fly well
Hajo 0 #5 December 2, 2016 Great. Another one ... I´ve missed the Fly Station in Neufahrn .. http://www.rank-bau.de/Neubau_einer_Skydiving_Anlage-1-9-43.html And it is in the north of Munich, close to the Airport .. ;-)-------------------------------------------------- With sufficient thrust, pigs just fly well
FastDaniel 0 #6 December 2, 2016 QuoteMunich: Jochen Schweizer Arena in Taufkirchen in the south of Munich opens up in March. https://www.jochen-schweizer.de/arena/arena-bodyflying,default,pd.html I've heard that Jochen Schweizer was an Investor in Bottrop in the past. KRBKV 0 #7 December 8, 2016 Yes, he was, but not so long. In 2011 he left the company, as far i know.
Chrisky 0 #8 December 11, 2016 The JS tunnel is a co-op between JS and EADS from what I hear. The mind is like a parachute - it only works once it's open. From the edge you just see more. ... Not every Swooper hooks & not every Hooker swoops ...
KRBKV 0 #9 December 12, 2016 If i would see Jochen one more time in Bottrop, i could ask him. ;)
Hajo 0 #10 December 12, 2016 ChriskyThe JS tunnel is a co-op between JS and EADS from what I hear. The JS amusement park (surfing, indoorskydive, outdoorsports) is a co-op with EADS. It´s not only the tunnel, it is an indoor-surfing and outdoor activity (climbing) facility also.-------------------------------------------------- With sufficient thrust, pigs just fly well
Hajo 0 #11 March 17, 2017 So as I have been to the Jochen Schweizer Arena (JSA) this week, a short review ... First: the Park itself is amazing and even it is not 100% finished, the organisation works well. The facility is, even still under some construction, very nice and modern style. See pic. The staff at the entry and of course at the tunnel-desk is absolutely great. Even in busy times, they are cool and helpful. They squeezed me in for 15 minutes flyingtime between two firsttimer groups, just in rotations with a kid in a morph-suit ... Crazy times .. Entering the tunnel is a bit like Bottrop style, two door entry to the tube. The airflow is fantastic. very smooth and laminar. The tube itself is huge and round. Operators work good, they always keep an eye on you to adjust speed if neccessary. Sum it up: not the cheapest one I´ve been in, but a very, very good one. Absolutely worth a try if you in that area. Also the staff at the restaurant and the quality they serve is awesome. Cons: as they are not completely finished with all the technical stuff, you need to phone or email to see what timeslots are available.-------------------------------------------------- With sufficient thrust, pigs just fly well
Hajo 0 #12 March 17, 2017 And on my way back home, I made some pics from the construction site in Neufahrn. This tunnel is on the opposite side of munich, just close to the airport.-------------------------------------------------- With sufficient thrust, pigs just fly well
Trafficdiver 8 #13 March 18, 2017 Wow. Looks awesome. European tunnels seem to be more like cafe's and social areas where as Ifly in USA is just the tunnel with no other amenities. With that said Skyventure New Hampshire has an awesome wave pool and a cafe, but it is the exception.
BigBUG 0 #14 April 3, 2017 And european tunnels have a better airflow too :)
wan2doit 6 #15 April 4, 2017 The method to get around the iFLY additional amenities minimalism is to bring our own snacks and drinks. :) On the other hand iFLY's in Florida are in pretty close proximity to local restaurants. It would be nice if they were set up to facilitate people hanging out and talking a bit more.
