rhys 0 #3 March 8, 2010 For interests sake, were the brakes released pumped on the main before it was cutaway? I could clearly see the risers get shaken but it is hard to tell if he released the brakes at all? I have had a few of streamers, pumping the brakes has cleared it for me every time. Malfunctions are funny (peculiar) things though, no two are exactly the same. Thanks for the footage. This was a new one for me, shaking the risers didn't work, by the time I gave that up I was getting close to 3000 ft, so I decided not to try and go for the reserve, as you can see on the vid I was only accelerating, so I knew that I was burning altitude fast, I really didn't want to risk a dual square situation... Yanking the risers works on my velo :) Next time this happens on a tandem I'll go for the brakes immediately."Don't make me come down there" - God. jenkincb00 0 #9 March 8, 2010 I've been in this situation too...the only issue with releasing the brakes is sometimes it spins you up so you add to the issue. However, as you said it often inflates the canopy and you save a reserve ride.

AiRpollUtiOn 0 #11 March 8, 2010 QuoteTension knot, damaged slider gromet, fabric caught in gromet? None of the above was found on the gear when we retrieved it, and as far as I could tell the lines looked normal above me, so I still have no clue other than every once in a while shit happens..."Don't make me come down there" - God. johnny1488 1 #12 March 9, 2010 It says there was a skyhook, but I'm interested on how the reserve p/c could "beat" the main as it looked like the main flew away fast and the freebag and p/c stuck around for a while. AiRpollUtiOn 0 #13 March 9, 2010 Good question! The reserve PC must have had more "power" or drag when it initially came out, pulling the hook off the ring."Don't make me come down there" - God. It's hard to believe that tandem main in streamer has less drag than the reserve PC. AND I felt like the main wasn't really giving me much drag anyway :)"Don't make me come down there" - God. johnny1488 1 #16 March 11, 2010 A high speed malfunction is never really going to give you much drag, but is it more than a reserve PC? I would think so. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
