RIGGER 0 #26 July 22, 2014 Hi With all the respect to NZAS they are NOT tandem systems mfg. & IMO they never run tests with tandem system like the major tandem SYSTEMS mfg. did & still do. Pay attention to UPT, Strong, Jump Shack they knows a little bit more about tandem than NZAS. The soft links might hold but the chance to have riser & soft link damage are high. Be Smart & Safe. diablopilot 2 #27 July 22, 2014 You show an amazing amount of arrogance. They Icarus Tandem Main HAS been tested and approved in a tandem system, the Eclipse. And no matter what you think the made up rules are, the FAR's allow for their use in TSO'd Tandem equipment.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
gowlerk 2,216 #28 July 22, 2014 However, every Eclipse tandem I've seen came with #6 links. They have not been made for well over a decade and are largely irrelevant.Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. RIGGER 0 #29 July 23, 2014 Hi I'm not sure that you really understood the point buddy. The point was not Icarus Canopies or TSO issues but use of Tandem Main Canopy Soft Links on any main tandem canopy - NZAS should not sent the Icarus tandem main canopies with soft links but with the original French SS metal #6 links as UPT does. so, please read first & replay after you get the point. Be Safe !!!

Unless you are lucky enough to find - un-jumped - "closet queens" most Eclipse Tandem rigs are worn out by now. Same as "if you have to send a SET 400 back to the factory for an 8-year inspection, you are in the wrong business." IOW if you have not made 1,000 jumps and worn-out 3 line sets, (over the last 8 years) you are not recouping your investment in a tandem main canopy. reactor 1 #31 July 24, 2014 I have contacted UPT and confirmed no soft link allow on neither main or reserve as hot grommet could burn raisers, just like what TomNoonan said. I will ask nz aero sports to supply me hard link. Attached pictures are from UPT.
