Skylark 0 #1 May 14, 2003 Please, please, please can we get rid of these? Once you've read somebody's clever quote once, you've read it a thousand times. It's really confusing whether or not I'm still reading someone's post or whether I'm reading their quote. Why not keep them in the main profile pages? "Into the dangerous world I leapt..." SkydiveMonkey 0 #2 May 14, 2003 This has been talked about before, well to the point where there should be a gap automatically added between the post itself and the sig line as not everyone adds a seperator or makes it obvious it's not part of the post itself.____________________ Say no to subliminal messages
AggieDave 6 #3 May 15, 2003 Getting rid of sig lines is like asking Al Gore to admit he didn't invent the internet. It won't happen... (Thats a joke, don't get all tore up) Basically, ever since I can remember (I first got on a BBS in 1987 and have been on them since/then the internet), Sig lines have been a part of communication. The proper form is to seperate the quote some how (it used to have an excepted standard, but cool stuff like our markup language here has made that obsolete).--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Jessica 0 #4 May 15, 2003 I like 'em. I don't have avatars displayed, so the sig lines are the only way I can tell quickly who posted. (It's hard to remember all the usernames.)Skydiving is for cool people only
poohbeer 0 #5 May 24, 2003 Why not simply use the sigs divided by a space with a standard smaller lettertype size? I've seen this being used on several other forums and works great. You still get to see the sigs but they're no way near as confusing anymore. examples: gathering.tweakers.net & www.motor-forum.nl/forum Also, automatic conversion of url's to clickable url is done great at both those forums (hint hint) ------- SIGNATURE BELOW ------- Complete newbie at skydiving, so be critical about what I say!! AggieDave 6 #6 May 24, 2003 That has been discussed at length before. If you do a search, you'll find HH's response.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
