TomAiello 26 #1 September 21, 2004 Is it possible to figure out which users get bumped (and get the "unable to access" messages) when usage is high. I'm just thinking that prioritizing this could have a lot of uses. You could prioritize SC last, for example, so that people having jumping discussions would get priority on the site's bandwidth. You could also prioritize premier members (now there's something I'd pay for!). Don't even know if it's possible, but just a thought.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
JohnRich 4 #2 September 21, 2004 QuoteYou could prioritize SC last... Um, why do you think Speaker's Corner is deserving of the lowest priority? I think people with UserID's that start with "T" should get the lowest priority.

JohnRich 4 #4 September 27, 2004 QuoteBecause he has paid attention to my sentiments. Everybody comes here for something different, and reads and participates in their own way. If you're going to have a "Speakers Forum", then I think that it deserves the same priority as every other forum. No one should be "discriminated" against, just because someone else doesn't care for their choice and method of participation. My 2¢: Leave 'em all equal. sangiro 26 #5 September 27, 2004 Quote If you're going to have a "Speakers Forum", then I think that it deserves the same priority as every other forum No it doesn't. Not only does it not deserve the same priority, it will not get the same priority. I can "discriminate" against whichever part of my site as much as I want. It has nothing to do with you anyone who hangs out there. Do you really think I give the same priority to SC (where people enjoy banging their heads against a wall) as I do to Safety & Training, where there may actually be discussions and information that saves someone's life? I suspect you and I have a different sense of priorities. Speaker's Corner is NOT what this site is about. There is nothing in the pipeline to split the load in the way Tom suggested, but if I were ever to do something like that I will not think twice about watering down that forum. There are plenty of other places on the web where you can argue about guns. Safe swoops Sangiro

Heck...the most important forums, John, are the ones that actually have to do with the sport - not the ones where we discuss politics, religion, who should post more nekkid pictures, weekend #'s, etc. After all....this is a SKYDIVING website. Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably. And never regret anything that made you smile.
