sunshine 2 #1 February 10, 2005 Is it possible to have posts deleted if someone starts a thread in more than one forum? It's quite annoying. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug!
skymama 37 #2 February 11, 2005 I do that practically every day! It's written in the forum rules, so yes, cross posts should be deleted. If you see one that we've missed, just send us a link in a pm please. slotperfect 7 #3 February 11, 2005 Like Andrea said, it's one of the more common tasks for we of greenish tint . . . I want to point out that there is a difference between a "duplicate post" and a "pointer post." Cross-posting is a no-no when someone posts the exact same text in multiple forums (duplicates). It's OK to post on the same subject in another forum if the new post points to the original, and the new post is relevant to the new forum in which it's posted (pointer post). For example . . . let's say a Pieces of Eight member posts a thread in "Events & Places To Jump" about a PO8 record attempt. It would be appropriate for the same poster to put a pointer to the original in the "Skydivers With Disabiliites" forum, and creating a "roll-call" for those PO8 folks who might frequent that forum and plan to attend. Avoid using the words "cross-post" in your pointer though. Also, there are other ways to get your word out to the entire site. If it's an announcement of worldwide magnitude, it may warrant going on the front page (just PM Sangiro to start that discussion. When a post popped up in the Gear and Rigging forum about the recent Mirage service bulletin, I PMd HH and he slapped an announcement on the home page.Arrive Safely John
