VanillaSkyGirl 6 #1 June 28, 2005 Is there any way to begin getting ratings or feedback with buyers/sellers of gear in the Classifieds section? I was burnt by someone, and right now, I am not sure if he is someone that I should warn others about or not. Thanks for reading this.
AggieDave 6 #2 June 28, 2005 That would be a good idea, I worry about people intentionally burning others that don't deserve it, though. I also worry about sellers burning others too. Ah, what a quandry.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

Ah, what a quandry. You've got a point. Anyone could make something up, and that would be even worse. It would have to be feedback from a real buyer or seller, like on ebay. It's not like we could anonymously give feedback. Does that make sense? I am not the type of person to name names, so I will not. Yet, I am so confused about this transaction that didn't work out at all, and I wonder why he did this. Reading questionable feedback on him, may have helped me. What do you think? This is the situation: A person emphatically e-mailed me about wanting to buy my main. We e-mailed quite a bit and agreed on a price an payment, etc. (COD & money order). At the last moment, he said that he was in a car crash and couldn't pay and not to send. Then the next day, he insisted that he would have a money order waiting for me if I could please send him the main. He insisted that he could pay and wanted me to send the main. I decided to send via COD, not drive halfway to meet him in person as he originally wanted because I didn't know him and was moving that weekend. Now a month later, I have no payment for my main. Yesterday, I investigated with the postal serviced and ironically, my canopy returned to me the same day. The would-be buyer never returned any calls, e-mails, etc. after I agreed to send my canopy for prompt payment. He has no reason for returning the main, except perhaps he had financial issues. I am perplexed by how he is handling all this. If he had financial problems, I would have understood if he had just e-mailed or called me back. He has not given me any explanation, nor returned any calls nor e-mails. I don't know this person that did this to me, but I have had good prior transactions from using the Classifieds on DZ.com. I was thinking, that a way to rate our transactions could be beneficial.
mr2mk1g 10 #4 June 29, 2005 I'm concerned there's simply not enough repeat traffic on there to make it worth while. The vast majority of jumpers simply don’t sell kit often enough to be anything more than a transient blip on the classifieds. Thus there will be a huge number of listings there from people with no history to look at whatsoever. As such I wouldn't think twice about buying from someone with zero feedback and new account or I'd never find anything to buy. If this is the case any negative feedback will simply be lost as the offender simply registers himself as someone new. The only people it would really affect would be prolific sellers or dealers who screw with people... I think we probably do ok at warning people about that kind of dealer already.
