The Payoff for Being an Instructor...

Recommended Posts

I received this heart-warming note from one of my past students....it's these guys that actually learn about safety AND pass it on to others that makes it all worth the effort. This young jumper is my kind of guy.

I met a guy from another dropzone (XXXXX I think) that was jumping at YYYYY the other day. Low time like me (I think it was his 37th). We were on two loads together, one solo and one two way together, and both times I asked him to exchange gear checks.

He checked a few things on my gear and then I did a check for him. Checked as best I remember all the things you showed me when you signed off on my A card. About the time I was checking the routing of all his straps and then his RSL routing he mentioned that my instructors must've been very thorough. I told him it was one very conservative instructor in particular.

He did a much more thorough gear check with the things you'd shown me the second load and seemed to appreciate the safety.

Figured I"d pass the story along. Thank you for teaching me as well as you did.

My reality and yours are quite different.
I think we're all Bozos on this bus.
