BIGUN 1,402 #1 March 17, 2007 With the rule regarding posting condolences in Bonfire, numerous anniversary threads of GFD, pioneer skydivers who have passed being placed in "History & Trivia" The loss of Hutch and other members of our family due to reasons other than skydiving and friends wishing to express condolences, skydivers that are soldiers who've passed during conflict, etc.... Perhaps the consideration of a Forum dedicated to our brothers and sisters of the sky we've lost for any reason could have the condolences placed there, picture uploads, anniversary re-surfacing... you get the idea -a memorial thread.Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. BillyVance 34 #2 March 18, 2007 I like that idea. I had a page on my original website dedicated to the friends I have lost in this sport. It would be nice to have one on here..."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
PhreeZone 20 #3 March 18, 2007 The Dropzone.com Skunk Works team (aka the Moderators) have been discussing an option like this recently. Thoughts on this really help out so feel free to voice your input on things like this to let us know how you would want it implemented and useable.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

Thoughts on this really help out so feel free to voice your input on things like this to let us know how you would want it implemented and useable. It would be nice to have a page with names of the deceased, hyperlinked to their memorial pages which would be like a scrollable web page with pictures and comments, rather than in a forum format. If somebody was put in charge of maintaining this, then anyone could submit a name with info and pictures if desired, and the moderator in charge would set the page up, and then anyone could send comments and pics to add on to the page. It may be labor-intensive for the moderator, at least at first, but fatalities don't happen all the time... Just my two cents..."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
NWFlyer 2 #5 March 18, 2007 I actually think a forum format would work better; there have been a few tribute pages that HH has set up here, but they don't seem to get all that many responses, and it doesn't allow for the chatting and talking about the person that the forum format allows, and which is clearly something that people are seeking when posting tribute and memory threads in Bonfire."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
BIGUN 1,402 #6 March 18, 2007 I agree with NWFlyer. A forum as version 1. Moderators could keep a pulse on it over the course of a year. Later, a condolences thread could include a hyperlink to a memorial page to a specific person.Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
