The reason it may seem harder to notice now is because of the positioning. Human eyes automatically track to the top left of the page, where we used to have it - so it does require you to actually look if you do have now (don't strain yourself when moving your eyes those 2mm) ;)

Nah, but if it will help - I can bold the current alerts to bring it out a bit more? I'll implement that so long and see if it helps. I'll be honest in that I too occasionally skim over and don't see the alert.

You could do something like

do nothing
else
bold the notification
endif
