Polorutz 0 #1 December 22, 2013 Hi, I was wondering if it would make sense to make the years field displayed in our profiles to be a selectable year or even a date. This so you can dinamically calculate the time in sport so users don't have to update that value every year. What are your thoughts on this?
BIGUN 1,405 #2 December 22, 2013 That value is based on calendar; but not necessarily "time in sport." For example, I had 9 years in the sport; then took 9 years off after the military to work on my "civilian side" (College, employment, etc.). Then, when I was financially sound again put another 9 years "in sport." So, 18 out of 27 years from start date instead of 27 cumulative years. "In sport" is important when it comes to ratings & knowledge. Same reason pilots use hours in type.Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. Andy9o8 2 #3 December 23, 2013 Plus, some people don't count hiatus time in their profiles, while others do, especially if they remained involved with the skydiving industry (etc...) during their hiatus (&/or since retirement) from active jumping. Boogers 0 #4 December 23, 2013 I would think it's no big trouble to update once a year. And if you forget for a while, that's no big deal either. The difference between 1 year and 2 years is insignificant, and so is the difference between 20 years and 21 years.
