jake69 0 #1 April 30, 2001 Anyone ever had an infinity that the stiffener plate at the closing loop has torn through????? I had it happen on a freefly jump on Sat. I'm sending it out today, but just wanted to see if it has happened to any on else. The rig only has 30 jumps on it. Weird huh??? Overall, still a sweet as hell tricked out container! freeflyguy 0 #2 May 1, 2001 Nah, never heard of it.Bummer that happened. Glad you're OK. Regardless, you got a good man on it. Kelly is very concerned with building a good rig. He will fix you up and learn from it, for everybody to come.
Dutchboy 0 #3 May 2, 2001 There is an article in this month's Skydiving magazine about two different construction methods for the Infinity, one that was much stronger in some ways. I know that this isn't related to your problem, but I thought you might want to look at the article.
PalmettoTiger 1 #4 May 2, 2001 I coulda sworn that I saw an advisory about this very issue in the past few days. IIRC it was an official thing from the Infinity's manufacturer, explaining the problem, how it happened in the manufacturing process, how they've fixed it, and exactly what riggers should look for when inspecting it. BUT... I've surfed an assload of skydiving-related sites in the past 10 days looking for used gear, and I can't find it anymore. So to answer your question, yes it seems like some others have experienced the same thing.Blues, squares,PTiger
