skymama 37 #2 January 29, 2003 Works for me. Did you try clearing your cookies, and then refreshing? She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
ernokaikkonen 0 #3 January 29, 2003 Hmm. I just logged in(although I already was logged in), and now it works. Just that I don't recall that ever happening to me before. Mystical stuff.
narcimund 0 #4 January 29, 2003 Same thing happens to me about 1/2 the time. I just don't bother trying any more. First Class Citizen Twice Over
TomAiello 26 #5 January 29, 2003 I've had the same problem on one of my machines, but not another. They're running the same OS, have similar hardware, etc, so I think that it's got to be a cookie-like issue. I haven't been able to sort it out, yet, though (haven't really tried too hard). I did notice that I don't get the problem with IE, but I do get it with Safari (I mention this because I know you use Opera). sangiro 26 #6 January 29, 2003 I'm not sure why this is happening. I need to look into it. Not referring specifically to you, (I often receive log in complaints) but I always found it amusing how people have time to post hundreds of useless posts and one-liners and then complain because they have to type in there username and password one more time... narcimund 0 #7 January 29, 2003 Sangiro, Oh, we could go on at length about the psychology of people using tools. You might say the same about people who take long sunday drives in the country then don't take an hour once every few months to change their oil. People are strange. But a couple of quick comments: It's not so simple as re-entering my login info. That doesn't solve the problem. It just loops back. People might not be "complaining" so much as attempting to do you the favor of notifying you of errors that they think you would want to fix. That's certainly been my motive. I haven't wanted to be seen as whining but instead as offering Q/A reports. That's why I've withheld 90% of them. Your site's got minor bugs, but they're of little consequence overall. It's fine the way it is. It's far better than "80% successful 80% of the time," which is what a philosophy professor once told me was his personal goal in teaching. Thanks for providing it. It just keeps asking for the login over and over and over.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
mattb 0 #9 January 29, 2003 I've had the same problem appear from time to time. I've tried clearing cookies / cache / etc. It's always on the same machine (Windows 2000 / IE 6) - I think it occurs most often when I have switched networks. If I'm logged in at work and go home (it's a laptop) I'll never have to log in again to get to the forums but sometimes will have to log in to view profiles. Not a big deal at all - just trying to help. -mb
SkydiveMonkey 0 #10 January 29, 2003 Try using a different browser like this one ____________________ Say no to subliminal messages
TomAiello 26 #11 January 29, 2003 QuoteTry using a different browser like this one I assume that Erno was using Opera when he had the problem. Isn't that your normal browser, Erno?I'd prefer to use Safari (which, admittedly, is still in beta) because it has some nifty integration features with my OS, and because if iSync gets a bookmark sync (between different computers) running, it will doubtless be the first browser supported (I use three different machines).-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
ernokaikkonen 0 #12 January 29, 2003 Yeah, I got the error with Opera6.05. It cleared when I logged in again though. BTW this is my beer post with Opera7.

TomAiello 26 #14 February 21, 2003 I am now experiencing this problem on yet another machine. I still can't figure out what makes it come and go. I've experienced it on three different OS's (Mac OS X.2.3, Windows XP, Windows 2000) and three different browsers (IE for Mac, IE for Windows and Safari for Mac OS X).I'll keep trying to figure out if there is any pattern.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
Magistr8 0 #15 February 21, 2003 are any of you at work behind a proxy? sometimes in add/remove programs winproxy might be set up. I also have found that if your usign IE clearing the objects sometimes helps. This can be done by the following: Tools> Internet Options> Settings> and then View Objects. Make SURE that you remove all the objects here. Hope this helps "Impossible is a word to be found only in the dictionary of fools."
