Thread in Recycle Bin

Recommended Posts

Someone asked a question about contacting Bonehead. I gave that answer.

Just got an e-mail message saying there was a reply to my post.

Now it says I'm unathorized to view that page. The whole thread is in the recyle bin.

Why would that be?

It looks like the issue was resolved by the company rep. The original poster edited his first post. It was pretty much a dead issue after that and a moderator decided to send the whole thread to the Recycling Bin. Basically, you were told "thanks". :)

How many times are threads sent to the recycle bin?

Not very many when you consider how many posts are made every day. Most of the time it is individual posts that break the rules and not whole threads.

The owner of the original post edited out the point of the whole thread and said "nevermind."

At that point the thread becomes like a chicken with no head.

Imagine a court of law, several days into an important trial, and "K" from Men In Black came in the room with his "deneuralizer" and removes the reason for the trial (the charges) from everyone's mind. Discussion from that point on would never again be on track.

This happens a lot . . .

So, just for future reference...

Am I to understand that the policy of not deleting posts at users requests has been changed?

I had thought that only posts which violated rules would be deleted.

Andy,

You're splitting hairs. Go read the rules.

User Requested Post Removal Policy
As an open public forum user, you are responsible for your own communications and are responsible for the consequences of posting those communications. We will usually not honor requests for post removals or editing. You can edit or delete your own posts for up to 6 hours after you posted.

Moderators have a discretion to delete or move posts as they see fit. I think John gave you a perfectly good explanation. Posts like this serve no purpose. Don't put us though the motions for every action we do on here especially if you haven't even made the effort to really look at the rule. It gets annoying after a while. :|
