So far what I have gotten from this is I should go out and spend more money so I can safely use this site.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not true. I was on the site last night and this morning, and never saw the ad. I only know what it looks like because Amazon posted a picture of it. I use AVG and SuperAnti Spyware on my machine and both of them were free downloads.

See I am good for something around here...

WOO HOO... good brownie points for once...

Can I have my sig line back.. pretty please????:$

I just might actually have some experience in the area of malware detection. :D

If you are going to post "advice" on how to remove malware then it better be correct since a lot of steps if they are incorrect can actually cause more issues then the original malware was. TLS is one of those things that if the sites you are sending data to uses and you disable it you end up crippling the usability of the site.

I say again, which your obviously are too inept to see for yourself, i WAS NOT giving advice. Where your getting that can only be caused by oxgen deprivation. I was merely sharing what worked for me. This little Trojan, Malware or what ever you want to call it wasn't all that bad, it was an easy fix. (For me anyway, please to God, i'm not giving anybody any advice here)

The restart of your system is what cleared the issue since it removed the running process from memory and due to a flaw in the code it was not always set to hook correctly to run on reboot. Windows Defender would have picked up any dropped files once that scan was ran.

Are you referring to my CPU? If so, tell me what kind it is, what is the system prosessor, how big is the Hard Drive, how many mghtz is it, what OS am i running?

I've asked you very nicely once, i'm going to ask you very nicely one more time, Please if you have issue with me take it out of the forums and to PM's i would appreciate it very much. This little penchant you have which i see as a supiority complex is something you need to work on. I don't care what color your name is you should not, neither should you be allowed to speak to others the way you do, and you've done it to me for the last time. At the end of the day, your just a man, like me, no better, no worse than any other man. So knock that chip off your shoulder brother. Stop letting your ego take control of your mouth. Thanking you in advance for your time, patience and cooperation as always.

Absolutely lessons can be learned and I'm hoping that NameMedia takes some time to consider some of the options that have been suggested both in these forums and other options available to them. :)
I can never just "accept" a virus outbreak, lessons should always be learned and applied to prevent that avenue of infection from ever occurring again.

My next fear is that with open forums and such that at some point a user is going to post an attachment to the forums that contains 0-day malware and then it will impact everyone that is downloading a photo or other attachment. [:/]

Grant, we are on the same page.

And that's perhaps the most important lesson. Surfing the web can be risky no matter how careful a website, forum, service or user is. Users, service providers, website managers and advertisers all have to be careful; no one of those people is an effective shield against malware.
