"Forum information"

"Gear and Rigging "
"The Dropzone Gear and Rigging forum where you can discuss any gear related questions and issues."

Try to use the appropriate forum when posting and try to keep on topic. We all want to have fun and have open discussions but if we stray too far too often, then this forum loses some of its' usefulness. I don't like to use a heavy hand here, but if you have noticed posts and threads disappearing lately, it is because, in my judgement, they were not appropriate for this forum.
I hope you will all understand and be considerate of others when posting. They come here looking for information about gear and rigging. Let's not disappoint them.
Thanks for undestanding and helping.

Well, your judgement is obviously very different from mine, but you are the boss. I spent time to express my thoughts in this forum, on topic that I considered relevant and in a polite manner - but if you prefer to throw it away on your whim, OK I will not be here anymore.
But in your place - I would have move it to other forum.

I'm not sure what post you are referring to, but I did not remove any on a whim. Please send it to me and I'll see about reposting. I'm sorry you would choose to not come here anymore, because as I explained, I removed some threads/posts because I was afraid the clutter would drive people away. I was hoping to encourage people to post to the proper forum and keep the posts relevant to gear and rigging. I am human and I may have erred in judgement.
"But in your place - I would have move it to other forum."
Good suggestion and I will keep it in mind in the future. I'm not sure you would have known that is what happened to it, but at least I would have perhaps had the opportunity to inform you. Good choice. The fact that you mention it suggests that maybe your post did belong in one of the other forums. I hope you will stay with us.

Alan I agree with you. I saw several that when I read them I thought they just didn't belong here. I have all but quit going to the open forum because I just don't like the tone anymore. How ever I do enjoy reading and posting in the gear and rigging and safty forums. I have leaned a lot.
I do think that some could easily have been moved to the open forum, so I'm glad you'll keep that in mind.
Thanks for trying, you won't please everyone.

It suddenly feels like Quincy in here...the heavy hand is coming down.
People are trying to post there opinions about gear and saftey of this gear.
they should've been moved not knocked out, or at least give em a 10 count(in other words a warning before moving them)....just my .02$

I saw it absolutely appropriate to voice my opinion about what I perceive as a negative trend to advocate for increased regulation and licensing requirement considering equipment choice by beginning and intermediate participants in the sport. I tried to argue my point using examples from other activities namely skiing and mountain climbing, which do manage to flourish legislation protected and self regulated respectively, without imposing undue limitation on freedoms. Despite having even greater potential to harm participants and others in both cases. I think that pushing for legislation similar to that regulating skiing industry is the single most important action that USPA can pursue instead of trying to regulate equipment choice, as proposed by some of the members of skydiving community. I used this particular forum as I respected it, and as I feel strongly on this subject. Having my work that I did spent my time on, hoping to reach the audience that I respect, being thrown away, obviously without even reading it, is rude. I do not feel I want to take my time for further discussions here. Hope it answers your question, Alan.
As far as the other, obviously humorous thread about fictitious Stiletto 2 goes I do feel it was much more appropriate here then Mr. Brownell obscene rumor mongering.

Daniel,
I know how you feel. I just spent nearly an hour composing a reply that in essence was mostly an apology, but also explained my rationale with respect to your post. I did read it and did not take it lightly. I had to step away from the computer for a few minutes and my mentally disturbed wife took that opportunity to delete it. Hence, I understand your frustration.
I won't re-write the whole post, but the bottom line was that I felt the Safety and Training Forum and/or Talk Back were more appropriate places for the issue of regulation except for TSO issues. It was inconsiderate of me to not move it or encourage you to do so.
You mention the post from Mr. Brownell and it was that thread that motivated me to take some action to encourage posters to keep on topic. Both Sangiro and I posted warnings in that thread and I also followed up with a private e-mail. Please accept my apology for letting some bias and frustration cloud my judgement.
