ChromeBoy 0 #1 March 14, 2002 Does anyone here jump a Vengeance? What are the characteristics are they in between a Stilleto and Sabre from a performance standpoint? Which competitor canopy would you campare it to?Just asking.Flying in a Blue Dream
skybytch 273 #2 March 14, 2002 The Vengeance is faster than a Stiletto through the air and on approach; Stiletto turns quicker. I've heard the Vengeance called "hard" - as in it feels like a rigid wing above your head - while the Stiletto is "softer". It is definitely a very high performance canopy. pull and flare,lisa--I'll be in the bar... you'll find me...
SkydiveMonkey 0 #3 March 14, 2002 I've seen a friend have some well nasty end cell closures on a vegeance. Almost had to chop a few times.... Looks like a cool canopy though. One tequila, two tequila, three tequila floor
alan 1 #4 March 14, 2002 The Vengeance and Samurai are comparable canopies. They are at least Stiletto class in performance and my opinion is that they are a notch above it.alan
Kirils 1 #5 March 14, 2002 I jumped a Vengence on demo and had opening spins and dives do to cell closure on just one side. I jumped with a guy who had the same problem and PD took the canopy back and gave him another one. The canopy does have a great flare but I really don't see a performance advantage with airlocks. I own a Jedei, and my Heatwave (same size) outperforms it. Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...
SkyMissy 0 #6 March 14, 2002 Mine flies a whole lot like a stiletto, only a little faster (maybe). The turns are slightly less "twitchy", but you do have to be sure and be symmetrical when you dump, and then fly the opening to keep the thing from turning. I have never had it spin up, usually a nice, diving right turn if I'm not watching it. I don't mind this much, I'm not taking it off of a cliff or anything. Overall I really like it, but the airlocks are really good for making the damn thing hard to collect in a stiff breeze (20-35 in Oklahoma a lot of times.)The freak formerly known as Mike Farmer.Sky World
amir1967 0 #7 March 14, 2002 170 @ 1.4 for it's fast and unless I take real slow it love to loos alt.going from a sabre 170 to it felt like a big change so I took it real slow for the first 20 or so jumps, and not busy dropzone also helped alot for thoese time it decided to open and dive to one side. only trying to say unless you have exp. on this type of canopy I wouldn't take right away on 4 or 8 way .but that only me.and yes it is pain to collect the damm thing on windy day but it is so stable to fly. I think it worth the pain.AmirAM67
