Viking 0 #1 March 19, 2002 I clicked on that add for Precision Aerodynamics and was looking at the Synergy, it seems to me that this is a clone of the Spectre but also a second gen Falcon. What about these new HMA lines there so damn thin!!! How does it compare to the Hornet? Other than having 2 less cells and all I swear you must have footprints on the back of your helmet - chicagoskydiver
RozeAY 0 #2 March 20, 2002 One of my teammates jumps a Synergy 170. He says it is comparable to the Icarus Omega.
Viking 0 #3 March 20, 2002 ok cool, does he have any comments on those lines? Has he had to do anything special b/c of there reduced size? Has he had any funky openings? How easy is it to pack it(as easy as a new zp canopy can be)?I swear you must have footprints on the back of your helmet - chicagoskydiver
RozeAY 0 #4 March 20, 2002 Well, he started pro-packing the Synergy but lately he's been psycho packing it. A few of us have found our particular canopies open softer and more on-heading with the psycho pack. As far as openings, they had been good until last weekend when he broke a steering line and C line on opening. When our DZO called the manufacturer, their reply was "somebody needs to learn how to pack." Well, there was nothing wrong with his pack job and the canopy only had all of 30 jumps on it. Thats about as much I know about his canopy other than the fact that he loves it. You can email me and I will give you his email address if you'd like to ask him any questions.Allisongtg150a@prism.gatech.edu
in2falling 0 #5 March 21, 2002 You know I look at HMA lines as something to wait a few years and see what happens with them and how they perform in the real world. As far as the Synergy goes its just an Icarus Omega and another canopy design that PA has stolen from Icarus. If your looking for a tapered 7 cell stick with the PD Spectra much better canopy with lines that have been in use for over 15 years now.

Remster 30 #7 March 21, 2002 QuoteAs far as the Synergy goes its just an Icarus Omega and another canopy design that PA has stolen from Icarus.Pretty bold statement.... you must be an expert on canopy design with lots of insider knowledge...Quote If your looking for a tapered 7 cell stick with the PD Spectra much better canopy .......maybe an expert with insider knowledge should know how that PD's canopy is the Spectre, and the its the lines thats are calle Spectra.....Sorry for the sarcasm, but you didnt score any credibility points with me.....RemsterMuff

alan 1 #9 March 21, 2002 QuoteYou know I look at HMA lines as something to wait a few years and see what happens with them and how they perform in the real world.Precision Aerodynamics proudly advertises that their Nitron canopy is a German-made Nitro, manufactured under license. The Nitro has in fact used the HMA lines for several years now, with some of them getting regular use at a few of the larger CA and AZ DZs. HMA lines have performed quite well in the real world (Europe and the US) for several years now.QuoteIf your looking for a tapered 7 cell stick with the PD Spectra much better canopy with lines that have been in use for over 15 years now.Spectra, in various stages of development/refinement has been in use for over 15 years, with many, many recorded cases of it breaking or failing. I don't believe any of the materials currently in use is perfect. Some are better than others, while still others perform better only in certain applications. Overall, we have seen a general improvement in the products our components are manufactured from, even Spectra.alan
