(yeah, to a tourist) call yourself whatever you want. skydivers are no better than the next guy. (depends who you're standing next to ) You don't see people that make model airplanes arguing (I don't see people that make model airplanes PERIOD )about what they can call themselves (how many planes theyve made before they're not tourists) For fucks sake people GET OVER YOURSELVES!!! (geeze n00b, lighten up...gonna give yourself a rash!) Squeak 17 #78 April 1, 2012 QuoteI am starting to warm to you Mr Squeak. LOL Please dont, Ill likely never jump with you, nor socialise with you, and apart from common courtesy, Ill probably never really speak to you. Based on your postings on SS and the way that you portray yourself I would see you as an overall negative to the skydiving community. Judging by the responses from the eastern jumpers I seem to be not alone in that assessment. You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing?

Any chance of letting bygones be bygones (I didn "T think so) I will take "common courtesy" thats a lot more than others would do. This sounds weird and you will not believe me but in real life I am not like greg demon. Indeed on SS I never personally abused any one. I did disagree and make some out there posts and some stupid remarks I did make some comments about a drop zone but did not personally abuse. Like I have said before the skydiving experience I had was positive (and I promote jumping to all I meet and work with.. at least 10 tandem jumpers I have sent to naggas) and 80 per cent of people I met were excellent. ( I was annoyed I got banned from AFF just for some dumb posts. My log book on my 5 AFF jumps all contain good comments from instructors.. but banned thats a little hard to live with at least for an idiot like me. ) I tried to be entertaining on SS but due to my lack of show business skills it went horribly wrong. How many times do I have to say sorry but I will say it again "sorry" (if there is anything I can say or do let me know!!) I realise I am one line stow short of a free bag. SkymonkeyONE 4 #83 April 2, 2012 I'm FAR too lazy right now to read through all of these posts, but here's my answer: Ten years. I don't care HOW many jumps you make in HOW short a time or HOW many medals you have, if you quit before ten years in the sport then you are a tourist. gregpso 1 #89 April 3, 2012 A very wise and lovely instructor who got me into free fall from static line (Vere) in the 80 sat Pakenham Vic said "You are a real jumper when you pack your own main pull your own rip cord land without guidance and spot the aircraft." AS I did all (on round canopies) some 30 times on the T 10s I think i can say that. In reality its what you think yourself not what others think. pretty easy in modern times Tandems are passengers the rest are skydivers (cause they are taking responsibility for themselves with some assistance)I tend to be a bit different. enjoyed my time in the sport or is it an industry these days ?? Ron 10 #90 April 3, 2012 QuoteStop acting like a tourist. Bingo. Maybe the poster should quit expecting treatment like Disney or Carnival at a DZ. It is not that kind of business. In fact most of his/her rant seems to be because he/she is not being treated like a dollar sign. If he/she was only seen as a dollar sign his/her ass would be kissed all the time. Like it or not, this sport see's plenty of young hotshots show up, brag about how they will be the best, and then disappear and are forgotten."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers,

nigel99 569 #93 April 4, 2012 Not all dz's are friendly and some take time to break into the cliques. If the problem follows you from one dz to another you need to do some self evaluation. If you are a regular, look for other people fresh off of their A and ask them to jump. Go out for a meal with the group after jumping that can really help. I got cold shouldered at a dz recently - went up and said hi to a few jumpers (my first day there) and was pretty much immediately shut out. No real sweat maybe it was a bad day (although I was warned in advance it was 'cliquey'). I've settled into a new dz and am making friends. At the end of the day though many larger dz's are business oriented and make it much harder to pick up friends (especially if you're quiet). Sometimes a small dz is a good option. SkymonkeyONE 4 #94 April 4, 2012 QuoteYeah just hang out with Chuck for few hours and you won't be a tourist anymore.... Haha "Hey Chuck, you just backed your Porsche into that tree" Seriously though, some people get into this HUGE race to "be the best" and either cut corners and bust their ass into a million pieces or they burn out very quickly and quit to become furniture salesmen or Realtors. I've seen it a million times and we laugh about it at the bonfire: "hey, where did so-and-so go?" "He ran off with a titty dancer, quit skydiving six years ago, and now sells furniture in TN". So sad. Chuck

Hell we dont like anyone IN FACT we don't even like each other. Best you stay away from the DZ, especially this weekend with the Easter Boogie on, you REALLY dont want to be shunned by THAT many people.
