Emailed Sunrise about getting a bigger D bag

Just putting this here as an FYI in case anyone has a similar situation.

Subject: Question about using a larger D bag
Hello,
I have a size W-18 container (love it by the way,
thanks for making a great product at a good price),
with a Saber2-190 and PD176R. The Saber2 is fairly
new, about 20 jumps on it and very difficult to pack.
I've been using packers since I got it because I have
been completely unable to bag the canopy (I was
packing for myself before the purchase when using demo
gear). I have been practicing the psycho pack in
order to make this easier, as I would prefer to pack
my own rig. Even psycho packing, when the canopy is
rolled up, the bag barely fits over 2/3 of the canopy.
The result is a messy/lumpy packjob.
My question is, would it be possible/advisable to use
a slightly larger D bag to make this easier until my
packing skills improve? And if so, could I procure
one through you (or should I go through my dealer,
Square3), and what would be the cost?

Hi Kevin,
Sure, it's possible to send you a slightly larger D-bag to help you out
with
your new canopy. The D-bag that would work well for this situation is
a
special pattern, the difference in size is not much, but it should make
your
life easier! And no need to worry about the deployments, this bag will
be
just fine.
I can sell you the D-bag directly (retail $40) and send it to the
address of
your choosing, or we can go through Square 3 and you can pick it up
there.
Just let me know!
The psycho packing should work out well too, it's usually very good for
brand new unruly ZP's!

I called Heather to find out what the "special pattern" is. Basically it's just a slightly larger bag, half way in size between the existing one and the one that comes with the next size up container (which would be too big to use).

The customer service gets even better. Great company. Here's the full email chain.

Hey Kevin,

We are sending 2 D-bags out to you today. One is a W-14 like you
should
have now (just to make sure you have the right size bag) and the other
is a
W-15. Let us know how it goes!

Hope that canopy settles down for you! You could try packing it on the
grass in the shade a few times, that usually helps and doesn't hurt the
canopy :)

Blue skies,
Heather

Heather,

Spoke to one of the senior riggers. Although he said
the bag is large enough for my canopy, he also stated
that going slightly larger should not cause any
problems and may make it easier for me to pack until
my skills improve. If you and Henri don't anticipate
any problems, I'd appreciate it if you could go ahead
and send that to me.

Thanks,

-Kevin

I love dealing w/ Heather and others at sunrise rigging...they are very knowledgeable, patient and wil take time out to answer your questions and bring up other valid points. They have a way to make me feel as if I was the only customer they care about....that service goes a long way...even after you buy their product.

I have to agree with you that Sunrise has great customer service. I sent them my rig for a few minor modifications after jumping it for a year and they did the mod's free of charge, gave me a free reserve repack and the whole process took less than 10 days from when I mailed it from NM. Also, Heather is so easy to deal with, I have nothing but good things to say about Heather and Sunrise.
