Mirage G4!!!

>:( I am fuming >:( !!!!

I have not yet even received my new G3 and it has already been superseded!

I would have at least expected Mirage, as a minimum, to have given forewarning of the G4 allowing then customers the choice of either the G3 or to hold on for the new G4.

I know of two other people who ordered their G3 after me...

Agreed there does not seem to be much difference between them but enough for them to justify a name change (and price increase).

I just can't help thinking that in a few years when I might wish to move onto a different (size etc) rig that the resale value will be less with a new version out there.

I guess it is a pain that I have yet to pay for new container and it is not even that latest available :(

Hey now, no whining. ;)

It happens to everyone, last year when I ordered my mirage they came out with the unisys, 1 week before my container arrived. One month after my crossfire1 arrived I found out Icarus was coming out with the crossfire2 was able to jump it, loved it was pissed that I didn't hold out a little longer to get my crossfire1 replaced.

As for resale value, I seriously doubt it will be hard to sell G3s there are so few up for sale as it is. Don't worry you will love you G3, and from what I could tell, the G4 is kind of like the odyssey, some cool changes, but nothing major. :)

And the prices go...up...up...up!
And the value goes???

My first rig was $90.00 complete with reserve and main! (1968) Why does having fun always cost so much nowadays?

biggset change seems to be in the shape - moving more of the bulk upwards, so it's less of a wedge shape and more aerodynamic like a voodoo. Since the wedge shape was always one of the few things I disliked about the G3, it looks like a great improvement to me.

Well, that $462 in 2002 dollars. That still is less than a container by itself today. However, I imagine that a modern system is a lot more expensive to design and produce than that 1968 system. Also, product liability probably figures into the cost. Cars, for example, cost much more in adjusted dollars now thaqn they did in 1968, but they are vastly better and more complicated product. Sometimes, it truly is worth the extra money. I wouldn't jump a 1968 rig, even if it only cost $462.
