fudd 0 #2 August 20, 2002 I was offered a BT-50 once, but it's too small for me anyway. When I asked around about the characteristic of the canopy I got told it was: Really busty openings, but great fun to fly. One guy said: I got 600 jumps on one of those and 3 reserve rides. Also, there might be that newer versions has new modifications so that it opens better. Ask around and take it for some test jumps. I only got this info second hand... There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
roq 0 #3 August 20, 2002 The BT 50 is a ZP 9 cell semi eliptical canopy of Parachute France with AR about 2.5 and flat glide ratio. This canopy flying and landing good but are prone for hard opennings. If you will to jump with camera the BT don't is good choice in my opinion Roq
phastasphuk 0 #4 August 20, 2002 Had a BT-60 before, openings are very fast and brisk, never slammed me though. I liked it lots at the time I had it, turns were very crisp. Friend of mine borrowed it and said it was faster in the turns than her sabre 135, go figure. Doesn't fly well with front risers at all, some say it is even dangerous, so thats why i got a Jonathan 170 instead which was slower in the toggle turns. Very flat glide, if you don't make it home, no one else is. Some ppl at my dz jumps the 50, it shows all the same characteristics as my 60 did. Wouldn't recommend the BT for camera jumps.chris
