Just wanted to let everyone know we have a new Frequently Asked Questions section on our website:

I'll be updating the page regularly so if you have any suggestions just let me know!

Thank you!

PS: We still have to get rid of the "July Special" banner on that page - I'll get to that soon!

Just a few questions that I had after reading your FAQ. Is there any difference between using the wide webbing for risers and chest strap and the thin ones? Or is it just fashion? Must one use the wide webbing with large 3-rings? Thanks!

Hi there,

Sorry for my delayed reply. The long weekend threw me off!

As far as chest straps go, some people prefer the feel of a Type 17 (1") chest strap. Others say they like the extra feeling of security with the Type 8 (1 and 3/4") chest strap. It's just a matter of preference and what you are used to. Try on rigs with the different chest straps and see what is more comfortable to you.

Risers. With a Wings you can have either:
Type 17 risers with mini-rings
Type 8 risers with large rings
Type 8 risers with mini-rings

Choosing from these can be more difficult. Most experienced jumpers have mini rings with Type 17 risers, but it seems to just be the fashion. Type 8 webbing is actually stronger than Type 17 and there is a mechanical advantage with large rings. Somehow though, large rings and Type 8 risers have become un-cool. (Many student rigs and just about all CRW rigs have large rings, if you want to check out the different combinations). Properly manufactured mini-rings and Type 17 risers are certainly safe, but if you would like Type 8 risers with large rings, go with those! Choose whatever you are most comfortable with.

Scob, you tried on my rig Saturday, and I have the big risers and big rings.

Be a trendsetter and make the stronger mechanically advantaged setup the new cool.;)

I like the type 17 risers because they facilitate stowing my slider behind my head and are easier for grabbing the rears. One thing I love about the Wings in particular is the front dive loops are flared out to the side, so they are really easy to grab for a front riser turn to final. It saves a crucial second at a crucial moment, which is why I prefer them over other risers...

Hello Heather,
I am willing to buy the rig of Wings now and I have found this FAQ link to answer all my questions about the options you offer but unfortunately it doesn't work. Could you help?

Thanks.
