Raven 3 line trim

Recommended Posts

We are using (super) Raven 3's as canopy's for base jumping. They al have an unknown skydiving history. One friend of mine has had some abnormal openings lately so we want to check if its still in trim. Could someone please provide us with the trim specifications for this canopy? Yes, I contacted precision but not much help from them for now. They suggested checking the trim of the 'bad'-canopy against the others. Sure, thats one way. But I think some exact data would be helpful here.

Cheers,
Andy

... I've got 102 jumps and 75 of them have been under a Raven II at 0.95:1. What's this one doing? Maybe I can help.

PS: mine's been back to the factory within 100-150 jumps due to a canopy collision so I suspect my line trim is still reasonably close.

What happens is hard to describe.

Slider down the pressurization is very strange. Sometimes the canopy seems to collapse partially during the opening, and it pressurizes strange. This could be the result of pulling the toggles early during/after the deployment. But we didn't see this in earlier jumps.

Slider up we saw a very strange opening where the canopy would slowly turn 180 degrees. The nose of the canopy also looked not fully inflated.

Not the kind of openings we are used to in the 100 jumps each of us made with our raven.
