cloud9 0 #26 October 8, 2002 I reset my slider and stow my toggles in their keepers but don't set the brakes until I pack.
councilman24 37 #27 October 8, 2002 I don't set my brakes till I'm where I'm going to pack, but I DO set them before taking the rig off. That way I can do it standing up and I don't have to make a special trip to the rig from the canopy to set them. I never use a packer. They didn't exist when I started and I don't trust anyone else anyway. Not to say that I won't jump a rig packed by someone else, but sure not going to pay for it. Setting my brakes before I take the rig off is one way I've speeded up my pack jobs.I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

tigra 0 #29 October 8, 2002 I tuck the toggle ends into the keepers while I'm in the landing area before I gather up my canopy and walk in to the hangar. I set the brakes when I lay my canopy down, unless I'm late for the debrief and the organizer is giving me dirty looks! Even though I usually have a packer, I like to do this myself. (also, unstow/uncollapse the slider and cock the pilot chute which I know the packer will do again, but its habit....)

Beachbum 0 #35 October 12, 2002 that was one of the first things I was taught about packing ... stow those buggers when you land to help prevent twists and messes on the way to the hangar ... I don't "set" them there, just tuck the tabs into the keepers ... and I check for twists every time I pack (alway myself) as a part of my routine ... forces me to actually pay a bit of attention to the lines instead of just walking up them from the container. The only time I don't do this is if I need to move quickly from where I landed for traffic or other reason. As long as you are happy with yourself ... who cares what the rest of the world thinks?
