is this really a scam? has anyone done any business with him? weve been emailing for about a week now and hes willing to send me a check and wait for it to clear before i send the canopy. i donno if i should send him my address to mail the check or not

Everyone listed in the Scam Alert forum is a confirmed scammer. Never do any dealing with ANYONE listed in this forum section.

He contacted me as username "d_12". I should have checked this forum before asking for a payment. Received a check for $3,000 for a $1,300 sale. Reading back through the emails it should have been obvious, but I've been unloading a ton of gear and it sort of slipped by.

Never sent the canopy or tried to deposit the check, of course.

EDIT: I should add that he never offered a higher amount. He actually tried to bargain on the price. It wasn't until I actually received the check that I saw he had added $1700 for "shipping".

This guy is still active under the same name. He had a buddy of mine ready to Western Union him the $1,500 he overpaid in the $4,500 check he sent.

These scammers tend to register new accounts under different e-mail addresses, the account associated with this e-mail account has been disabled since the post was made.

As requested above though, any e-mails from scammers should be forwarded to abuse@dropzone.com so that we can take necessary action.
