• Be suspicious of anyone claiming to be acting on behalf of a "client" or another "customer".


• Be suspicious of anyone claiming to be from Nigeria or West Africa


• If you agree to accept a check payment, then do not send anything, gear or "change" before the check cleared. And be careful, if you manage to clear a fraudulent check then you may be liable for the damages if the bank finds out later. Make sure your bank authenticates the check.


• If it sounds to good to be true, then it probably is.

This 'buyer' also sent me the exact same email, misspelled words and all.

I received a similar inquiry from this buyer regarding a canopy I'm selling. It seemed suspicious that I couldn't find any info about him on Facebook or here, other than the posts about him being a possible scammer. Thanks for sharing the info.

Here's his follow-up phish attempt. Note the attempt to be cool and failure to cut and paste the rig type. I had also already sent my name and cell phone number. Somebody buying a rig would be more careful.

yup, also received the same email from a different "buyer". so i told him because of alot of interest in the canopy i have to up the price to 560,000EUR. i was really hoping for that sale but he hasnt got back to me :(
