Video For Swooping?!?!?!

Ok, will someone please tell me that there is such a thing as a video that shows tech. on swooping diff. ways? I have looked everywhere and can not find a $%&#*&% thing! Can someone help me please?

The best example of something like this is probally... last years Pond Swooping Nationals video. It won't teach you... but it shows how the big names land. If your looking for a teaching video, spend the money on a coach instead.

The video "Fly like a Pro" has some good educational value. As far as which video to buy to watch the greatest variety of techniques, yes, last years PSN video "Dirt, Water, Dirt" is what you want.

Swoop! or Dirt Water Dirt have some good examples of good and bad swoops... But, as was stated in another post, you cannot learn to swoop by watching a video... trying some of the techniques displayed in the videos (by the pros) without proper training will get you hurt.

Hi,there's a video out there called FLY LIKE A PRO i've never seen it so i don't know if it contains anything on specifically about swooping but it cold be worth checking out as it is supposed to be educational

I think at most clubs there is enough footage on how not to swoop!!!
Maybe take a look at them first.
At my DZ there are 2 cameraflyers that jump with napkins over there heads, and both of them tend to hook too low sometimes, great footage, the kind of footage were you think AUCH, that must hurt!
Maybe canopy control courses are the best resource for learning to swoop.

By the way, I got very lucky on one jump (hooked way too low, hit the ground with my knees before I was able to pull up and still stand on my feet), so I'm not quite a reference in safe landings, I've become much more carefull since.

THAT'S for sure! LOL Not really a joking matter, but you can definitely see what not to do at any dz any weekend. On a serious note, however, that does not really help the problem. People who want to learn need to know WHAT is wrong in the videos or swoops they see, and how NOT TO DO THAT.

I only say this based on my time spent with a canopy control coach and pro swooper (Perry) and his fellow canopy pilots. I like to listen to what they have to say at the dz and at swoop meets, etc.

The very best thing you can do is get hands-on help from some experienced in swooping. I would suggest someone with thousands of jumps, on many sizes of canopies. The best pilots on the circuit today started out jumping BOATS and worked their way down to small canopies over the YEARS. Now everyone wants to cram it all into a two day course. Hence, you have injuries or fatalities. Take it slow. Take many classes with a coach or a good friend. It doesn't have to cost much, if anything at all. A good pilot doesn't want to see anyone get hurt and in my opinion, should share their knowledge with anyone willing to learn. If you are open-minded and willing to learn - this means LISTEN - you will be doing bad ass in no time.

My measly .02 cents on the matter. Thanks for reading this since I am not a swooper, I just know a lot of them, and that probably doesn't really even count.

I agreee with pretty much everything freaksister said about getting experienced pilots around to help. But also ask if they or anyone standing around would video your own landings. By watching yourself land, you may be able to pick apart small things you have been doing wrong without ever knowing.
