4 Boomerang questions

Recommended Posts

1. Does the helmet has a fixed lens or can you open it when you wear it? (couldn't get it from the pictures/text in the advertising staff)
2. I've read that they manufacturer this helmet in two sizes - meaning that for small helmet you get the large one with more liner, have anyone purchase the small\medium one? do they fit you well ?
3. What is the Optional Half "Swoop" Lens they mentioned in square 1 site?
4. Any comments on the quality and durability of this helmet (I know it's quite new on the market but probably someone already jump it more than just a few jumps)

Thanks
Royi

It is a fixed lens. The lens is very secure and made of thick polycarbon (some full-faces use flexible plastic).

Well, I have only jumped it for a month or so, so I can't comment on how it will wear over time, but from what I can tell, it is topnotch quality and I doubt it will have problems in that department.
I am pretty satisfied with the helmet. One thing I don't like is that there are no vents over the mouth directly to the outside of the helmet. Therefore, if you are breathing hard in colder conditions, you might experience some fogging on the bottom side of the lens (where its hard to use the anti-fog stuff).

1: Fixed lens with alot of holes for air.

2: email bonehead or the store you are buying.

3: is a lens cut in half, search the forum for the Bonehead boomerang, There is an explanation about how to visualize the half swoop lens. If you are planning to use it for RW get the full lens.

4: The helmet is made with carbon fiber. Carbon fiber is much better and stronger than plastic and kevlar (Z1).

I'm planning on demoing the Boomerang next time I'm out at Perris. I was concerned about the holes and how that would work with my contacts, but I realized that it wouldn't be much different from my motorcycle helmet, which I've worn with the lens cracked open at 140+ mph. Carbon fiber helmets are fiber-impregnated resin, just like kevlar. The only difference is the fiber. Kevlar (Dupont brand aramid) is actually stronger than graphite, but graphite is stiffer. My motorcycle helmet is actually made of carbon, aramid, and glass fibers.

I am a dealer and personally jump the boomerang. I took the lense off and use goggles. I did not like thinking I had a jet next to me under canopy.

I love the helmet and have added a side mount camera to it.

As far as sizes, you can mix and match the liners in the 2 different sized shells to obtain the right fit. You can then heat the liners only for a custom fit.

I am not totally useless, I can be used as a bad example.

I ordered a small one and ended up sending it back. Even with the bigger liner, the chin strap all the way back (removed that little chin cover thing) I was able to pull the helmet off my head. Talked to bonehead and they said it needs to be worn in some weird way that was not comfortable at all and ended up making it even easier to slip off. I think the problem was that they add more liner to around the ears, but nothing up in the top where that huge bump out is.

So basically it does not size down well to a small
