christopherm 0 #1 November 6, 2002 What are some good ways to bleed off speed at the end of a swoop. Trying to stop accurately is hard since the speed and length of the swoop seems to always be different.-So, how hard is the ground?!
skygod7777 0 #2 November 6, 2002 well i can't really think of too many ways, but maybe drag your feet, like a dead man swoop. but the best way i would say, is to practice until you can figure out how long your swoop is, and be able to start at one point, and swoop and stop at the target. later
prost 0 #3 November 6, 2002 Pumping your brakes will bleed off some speed. You just have to be careful to not over do it.
quade 4 #4 November 7, 2002 QuotePumping your brakes will bleed off some speed. It'll bleed off speed because it's really an inefficient way to fly and not too predictable either, so you run the risk of biffing in.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

Rapid repeated pumping of the brakes while in the surf to loose speed. But be careful not to stall the canopy. As always practise high before bringing it low.Rich M
prost 0 #6 November 7, 2002 Exactly but it is the about the only way to bleed off speed mid swoop. I have done it before to swoop and stop on a spot.
