Too high, too low...need help with flaring

Recommended Posts

Thanks to everyone. You gave me some things to think about.I'm confident in the fact that eventually I will "get it". Sometimes I'm too impatient. I'll get it eventually...just have to practice and give it time.

I did four jumps yesterday in ~12-15 kn winds. On three of the landings I was either going straight down or backwards, and I needed no flare.

On my last landing, I was going forward, and then caught some turbulance from the ground and ended up landing sideways.

2 stand up, 2 PLF. I learnt that when it's windy, I don't need to flare very much. flare 1 is plenty.

What quade said is pretty good.

The only good advice I can give (I am not a JM or instructor, I am only a person with 70 jumps that had trouble with the flare) is to practice and feel the flare up high (against the wind).

Another thing I do (and works) is the slow flare, like it was mentioned on a previous post.
