Void425 0 #1 October 28, 2002 is a person required to wear a Jumpsuit over there clothes to jump or can you do it in street clothes? If a JS is required is there any thing to look for in buying a JS rather then looks?
fool 0 #2 October 28, 2002 Firstly, most dz's give you the option of wearing one. You don't have to, but if you don't stand up your landing, would you rather have your clothes or theirs get dirty, and or torn? Secondly, just to clarify, the dz will supply you with a jumpsuit if you opt for one, you don't have to bring one. Thirdly, yes, there is much more to jumpsuits than the LCF. Void425 0 #3 October 28, 2002 If I was going to buy a jumpsuit, do you know a good all round jumpsuit? If not can you give me some good examples of what types of suit are better for various jumps.
jessefs 0 #4 October 28, 2002 I know at my dz, suits for students are required. This is due to both the crashing and burning as well as identification. Nobody can miss the solid flourescent's that the students wear...watch out for us!!J

mccordia 74 #6 October 28, 2002 In Holland you are not allowed to wear anything BUT a jumpsuit (or other 1 piece clothing) untill you have your B licence. This is largely to prevent sweaters/sleeves flapping over your handles... Most people at my DZ (including me) start with an old garden/work(jump)suit and buy a decent RW/Freefly/whatever-suit lateron when they have an idea on what they want...JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? PhreeZone 20 #7 October 28, 2002 Jump suits are needed so the Jm's can have something with grippers to grab when you as a student get unstable and start to turn/spin/move when they don't want you to. Use the DZ's until you get off student status and then get your own. There is no need to get a suit to make your first jump on.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

Casch 0 #9 October 28, 2002 I like wearing a jumpsuit anyway. It doesn't really matter how "Cool" you look. You aren't going to look very cool if you reach for a handle and can't pull it (scary shit sangiro) and you burn in. Find a comfy JS and just bite the bullet. Trust me your not going to be worrying too much about the way you look when your flying.
TALONSKY 0 #10 October 28, 2002 I really would not recomend buying a jump suit to go through student statues unless at your dropzone they do not have a jumpsuit that would fit. The reason I say this is I personally love booties and highly recommend them to new A license holders. Booties give you a more powerful track and turns however, they would be a really really bad idea for a student. So if the only reason you want to buy one is so it looks better just wait and buy one when your skills are better(plus you need to know how fast you fall in a relaxed arch compared to others to find the type of suit that would best suit you) Blue Skies Kirk
