jceman 1 #27 February 19, 2003 Quote Quote There will be times when you will be glad to feel that pain and then there will be times that you will wish you had died so the pain would go away. Meds only work on your brain, not the pain. Then there's the times when you are back in the air under canopy making a riser turn to final and you have a flash-back and bail out even though you were safe.I feel your pain. Ken Not to mention the video that autoplays in your head every time you close your eyes to try to get some sleep. You have the fun and joy of reliving every crunch.Too bad that sort of sensation can't be captured like the visuals can; you probably couldn't sell many copies, but if each DZ had at least one and the S&TA were allowed to strap someone in the SensoChair and play it for an aspiring swoop wonder... Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?
kallend 2,027 #28 February 19, 2003 Although I started on a smallish canopy (150), any thoughts of downsizing were eliminated when I had about 120 jumps, and a guy hooked in right next to me, bounced about 25 ft, and when I got to him (first person there) his femur was sticking out through his jumpsuit, and arterial blood was spurting through the hole.So 1100 jumps later I still think about that, still jump that 150, and most of my approaches are straight in. ... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.
listo 0 #29 February 20, 2003 well, my femur just looked like a rifle bullet had hit it, there wasn't anything big enough to come through the skin.Good ole Papa Morphine kept my sense of humor going though. The EMTs asked how tall I was......I told them "about 30 mins before hand I was 6'4, but at the moment, I think that 4'6" is a safe guess" Well.....they thought it was funny anyway. My friend was videoing everyone's landings that day. It was a typical "hey ya'll watch this....get the camera ready" ......little did I knowLive today as tomorrow may not come
