skycat 0 #26 March 29, 2003 Quote I seriously doubt it. Check this out... I flew a canopy loaded at 0.45/ft^2 once. How many people have done that? That was probably my scariest jump ever. Did 10 jumps on a student canopy at .48......I'm really good at landing backwards. Fly it like you stole it!
mikeat10500 12 #27 March 29, 2003 Quote> That's true of the Stiletto, not the Sabre. I once jumped a Stiletto 190 that, at my weight, was dangerously unstable; we used a Sabre 230 for years in our student program with no problems. I looked in Paragear cat to find recommended min wing loading for the Stiletto. "Varies with landing conditions"...that's a big help! So what's the rule of thumb? I know a guy jumping @ 1:1 aprox it seems ok. mike----------------------------------- Mike Wheadon B-3715,HEMP#1 Higher Expectations for Modern Parachutists. freakydiver 0 #28 April 1, 2003 "The Sabres always opend smooth" Damn dood - I pack my Sabre with fine tooth and comb and 1 times out of 10 it smacks me no matter how clean my pack jobs are. All of the obvious factors have been checked and rechecked - have tried different setups, smaller pilot chute, larger slider, slider pockets, praying to the neck god. More times than not, when talking with other Sabre owners, they have the same experiences - alot of these jumpers have 1000's of jumps on Sabres as well. RevJim 0 #29 April 2, 2003 Quote "The Sabres always opend smooth" HOOK ME UP with YOUR SABRE PLEASE!!! Too late, it's on it's way to Canada (the 135). My 150 opens exactly the same. I roll the nose together, all one way, all the way to the "A" lines, but not over or past them. I quarter the slider, then pull it waaaaay out front, ahead of the nose. I stuff the nose into the packjob. Be careful not to go too far. I used to push it all the way to the back. Knock on wood I never had a line over. I found that only hiding it halfway into the packjob I got the same results. Wrap the snot outta the tail. Seriously. It works. KEEP IT TIGHT FROM HERE ALL THE WAY INTO THE BAG! Loosen it even a bit and it all goes to shit internally, giving you the basics of a bad trash pack. Edit to add: I tried NOT rolling the nose on the 150, like PD says, twice. I didn't get spanked, but it reminded me alot of a reserve opening. Pretty damn fast. Roll the nose, soft, Spectre like snivel. It's your life, live it!
