New from PD???

Recommended Posts

OK, so PD has a new ad in Parachutist... "designed to slice up the competition." What is the buzz on what and when they will release?

If I remember corrently, they did a similar campaign with the Velocity... baiting the market... A little tickler, then a name, then the info, spread over several month before the actual release...

I've heard rumblings about new materials vs. new design, but nothing concrete, and based on the tag line it might suggest high performance market segment.

Anyone?

I've heard a couple rumors of a new mid-performance elliptical, like an updated Stilleto to compete more directly with the newer designs on the market (xfire2, for example).

what I would do is look up the kangi in the bottom right hand corner of the ad and see what it means. also judging by the "cuts" in the add it is the letter "K" counld it posibly be a katana?

I've heard of a canopy that will be direct competition for the Xfire two..and I'm sure this will be it...as I had a certain PD person tell me not to buy a Xfire till this one comes out and I test jump it.....

Up until the Vengence and Velocity most of PD's canopies were named after knifes/swords. Excaliber, Sabre, Stiletto... Katana would be a likely follow on name.

I thought the Sabre was an airplane.

Edit: actually, aren't they all airplanes?

well they were all blades first... although Excaliber is a proper name for a mythical sword and all the others are 'types'

***i heard it was going to be a mid performance canopy. and it wouldn't really have a "name". it would only have a symbol. being the symbol in the bottom right corrner of the page.
***

that symbol is a name just in another language. in this cash japanese (from the looks of the kanji). and if it does translate to katana then the name of the canopy would be katana wouldnt it:););););)Just gotta give ya shit kelly...

That is actually not the case at all. All are names of fighter planes. This directly from the horses mouth. Yes, the "next generation nine-cell elliptical" will be debuted soon enough, but no, it will absolutely NOT be named "Stilletto 2."

The third alphabet, kanji, was imported over the centuries from China. The pictograms are typically (much) more complex than kana (remember, "kana" refers collectively to hiragana and katakana) and, furthermore, have different readings and meanings depending on how they're combined with other kanji. They represent ideas or words rather than syllables, although of course hiragana or katakana could be used to spell out the pronunciation.

It's not uncommon to see a kanji with its reading spelled out in very small kana, written just above it. Kana used in this way, to show you how to pronounce a kanji, are known as "furigana".

Also, the same kanji can often be read in different ways. For example, the kanji sei can be read as sei when in "sensei" (teacher), or as u in "umareta" (I was born), or nama in "nama biiru" (draft beer). Aargh! Panic! *slap!* Calm down. It's not that hard. Just breathe deeply and you'll be fine. Follow me...
