Samurai136 0 #1 November 4, 2002 I got the smaller stainless steel grommets instead of the #8 Brass grommets on my new slider from PD. The Stainless Steel grommets do not easily slide over my mini risers and toggles. In fact it released a brake the first time I was sliding them down. Does anyone have a good tip/ tool recommendation for removing SS grommets? 'Snap-On' diagonal cutter or use a grinder? Or? I am working w/ a master rigger on this. I thought you guys might have some other points of view on this. Thanks! Ken"Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken
ernokaikkonen 0 #2 November 4, 2002 There was a thread on this very subject a couple of weeks ago. A search on this forum should bring it up.
PhreeZone 20 #3 November 4, 2002 Side cutters that are sharp and a screw driver work nicely.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
riggerrob 643 #4 November 5, 2002 Removing #0 stainless steel grommets is so difficult that I have never attempted cutting stainless steel slider grommets. With steel that tough you run a high risk of tearing the fabric. In this circumstance, I would rather sew up a new slider with brass #8 grommets. Alternatively, call the manufacturer and ask if they make sliders with more than one size of stainless steel grommets. There are two or three sizes of stainless steel slider grommets in popular usage.
bobsoutar 0 #5 November 5, 2002 PD are renowned for good after sales service. If it isn't right, they should send you a replacement that is.
