CanuckInUSA 0 #27 September 30, 2003 Quotedon't go immediately to a crossbraced but rather to the stiletto, sabre2 or safire (the one you prefer most after having tried them). Just so that there's no confusion here. The Crossfire canopies are NOT crossbraced, but rather high performance fully elliptical canopies. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
AndyMan 7 #28 September 30, 2003 QuoteHe replied me that it was much too big for me as the CF canopy was designed to be flown at higher wing loadings than PD canopies. Therefore, we wanted me to try a 109, which I did not feel too comfortable to try. I'm thinking this is a standard marketing technique of Icarus. I jump a Stileto 150. A few weeks ago they gave me the same line, gave me a 139, saying the 149 would fly "big". I didn't believe them, but took the 139 thinking it would be fun. Indeed, it WAS fun, it was fun because it was fast, it was fast because it was small. On my third jump, I landed off, and had to put it into a very small spot with tight "outs". After that landing, I walked back to the DZ, handed it back and went back to my Stiletto. Landing the CF2 into a tight spot was no fun at all... I think the "jump one size smaller" line is just a line to get us to jump a faster canopy, so that we'll have more fun, so that we'll think it's the shape of the wing, not the size thats more fun. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. freeflydrew 0 #29 September 30, 2003 what an awful story! It's so ironic that a manufacturer tell you to test jump a canopy smaller than the one that your currently flying, rather than the same size or even a size larger... especially when it's a totally different canopy than what you're currently flying! Very strange way of handling demos... but hey, what do I know, right?

bendywendy 0 #32 October 3, 2003 I used to jump a spectre and I wouldn't laugh at you swooping under a spectre - it can swoop. A few years ago there were actually a couple of people still competing on them. I switched to the Crossfire 2. I loved both canopies. I went from a 120 to an 89 - but I am a small female. The Crossfire 2 is nice and responsive and you can get a nice swoop from it. I do love PD though and I've demoed the Velocity. I think the C2 is a sweet inbetween canopy.
