Newbie 0 #1 October 30, 2003 i have 100+ jumps, i'm thinking of down sizing? Obviously i'm joking, i'm quite happy with my 190 right now. But i'm curious to know what the smallest canopy out there is right now - anyone got any stats? "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
SkymonkeyONE 4 #2 October 30, 2003 VX 46 is the smallest canopy landed. That canopy was actually landed by quite a few people, one who jumped enough weights to load it over 4:1. One person, Mikeal Stevens, jumps a 53 pretty regularly for "sport", and another person on here jumps a 55. One moderator on these forums has a 60 and I jumped a non-crossbraced 65 for a few months. Those are all extreme examples of wingloading and 99.9 percent of the skydivers in the world don't have any business jumping stuff that small. Newbie 0 #3 October 30, 2003 how fast are you falling vertically when under a 46 sq ft canopy loaded at 4:1 and not flaring? "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts

AggieDave 6 #11 October 31, 2003 Some folks had the 24sq ft Cobalt out at SummerJam 2003 (at SD Aggieland). Catfish jumped it, cut it away of course, but it was something to see that's for sure. We have a pic of him standing next to one of the packing tents we had up kiting it, basically doing a line check. Talk about TINY.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

AggieDave 6 #13 October 31, 2003 I can't remember what he said his fall rate was under the canopy, but he did say that around 7k or so his forward speed was basically nothing and he was going straight down like a shit-brick. A bit after that he chopped it and dumped out his regular main.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
