skygod7777 0 #51 June 8, 2004 Quotewould it (because of the increased speed) be hard to control on opening? shit if you had line twist you could just reach above it and spin the canopy in the direction you want it to go but from the pictures it doesn't look like it opens too soft, and that's sub terminal, so a terminal opening is only going to be worse, that's my guess. diablopilot 2 #52 June 8, 2004 Quotewouldnt full terminal at approx 120 mph reselt in a snappier more unpredictable opening? I find most canopies I've owned to respond better to terminal (120mph air speeds better than sub-terminal. Line twist would be less of a problem on a shorter lined canopy as well.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. SkymonkeyONE 4 #64 June 9, 2004 Actually, the wingsuiter, Jeb Corlis, was not working hard at all to get there. His body position was very neutral in that scene. If he hasn't already, I wonder why he just didn't go ahead and take the dock on Luigi. Chuck

ManBird 0 #70 June 23, 2004 QuoteCrazy stuff. Anyone want me to translate the video?I'll translate for you: QuoteLuis Cani was expecting a new parachute from Icarus. He received a package in the mail containing a red t-shirt with a note taped to it that read, "We're sorry, production is taking longer than expected, please accept this t-shirt as an apology." He was so excited that he didn't read the note, and mistakenly took the t-shirt for a skydive. Jeb Corliss, a man reputed to have been expelled from a secret ninja society after assassinating one of its leaders, was on the aircraft. "Luis said he was opening high, so I had to go out first," reports Corliss, "that's what wingsuit BASE ninjas are supposed to do." Jeb Corliss (known behind his back as "JC3") had quite a surprise early in his skydive. "I was in the middle of a badass flatspin when Luis shows up right next to me with that damn t-shirt over his head!" says Jeb, whose true identity is unknown. "I was freakin' out and flew over to tell him the dire situation he was in, but he just zoomed right past me! There was no way to catch him, so I did 75 gainers." We caught up with Luis to tell us what happened from there. "The canopy was very fast," says the horse jockey turned parachutist, "and I couldn't stop thinking about frying bananas." "I saw Jeb on the way down and it was very annoying. He was bothering me, so I kicked him in the hand." Luis rested on his heels before returning to his tip-toes to say, "I needed to focus, because this parachute was very small and I was wearing a lead safe. I checked my altimeter and I was at 7,000', so I started my hook turn. Five seconds later, at 1,500', I initiated a flare, and felt the parachute hit the back of my head right before I landed." Upon landing, Luis received massages from fourteen foreign celebrities that no American, save Jeb Corliss, has ever even heard of. He was then escorted by rocket to a private island, and was unavailable for further comment."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

BrianSGermain 1 #74 June 23, 2004 What's the point of risking everything for a number? I can measure the 46 with a different technique and come up with a 39. I know I am coming off like a total buzz-kill right now, but my interest is merely to protect my friends. Luigi is my friend. I do not want to see him get hurt, nor anyone else for that matter. Chasing the theoretical limits of the system will eventually end with someone dying. It reminds me of a college game we used to play. We would hold our breath as long as we could, I guess to see who was more macho or somthing. Eventually, someone comes along that will not focus on the survival instinct, but only the goal itself. That was me. I held my breath until I passed out and went into convulsions. Super cool... What I am asking is: where are we going with this, and where will it end? I am not willing to sacrifice my friends for some theoretical goal. Please come home Luigi. Show us your true colors through your incredible flying skill, not your Grande Cahones. Cahones always get scrambled in the end... daveom 0 #75 June 23, 2004 QuoteI can measure the 46 with a different technique and come up with a 39. What's the deal with these 'measuring techniques'? I have never understood this. Surely there is a purely mathematical formula for calculating the area of an ellipse/hexagon? What are the methods in popular use? I keep hearing about the 'PD method' or 'Icarus method'...
