We won't be getting to the DZ Friday until probably around 6pm - gotta work til 11
but we are planning to stop by the DZ and check it out regardless. See you soon................. Hope there is someone there NOT doing the swoopy swoop thing so I can play - I'm getting tired of playing with myself

Now, somehow I doubt that! I know I never get tired of it!

Tell everyone I say hi!

I wanted to say a XL "Thanks" to everybody out in Tally this past weekend at the swoop comp!! Being that it was my first swoop comp, I wasn't sure what to expect. I realize now that I have much to learn and many fun times ahead of me learning!! This is one of the biggest jump starts in my time as a skydiver and I can't wait to experiment more with my canopy and learn to be a better pilot!
Special thanks to Ian D. for taking the time to explain a few little tricks of the trade. Cool hanging out with ya brother!! Mel and I will definitely see you soon. I keep thinking about all those little details that you and Kremmons were talking about that night. I'm looking forward to doing more hop n' pops and applying those techniques (in the safest possible fashion of course).

Ditto........it was another fun comp to watch
and I even made my little attempt at swooping the course (and think it was caught on video by Tom).
It was great to see everyone, AGAIN, and J - you did GREAT for your first showing my friend (and you weren't last
). It's all about learning and having fun with your pals. Any chance you'll come play in Zhills next month and bring that cute little honey of yours for ME to play with
?
P.S. Film is at Eckerds as we speak so tell Mel

Hey Jason!
Was great having you out there dude. Congrats on your first meet, you did great!. These comps are just spectacular for spending time around some really good competitors who are good people and love sharing advice. It's a wonderful learning environment so we hope to see you there more
Anytime man. I'm only passing along what others (waaay better than I) have passed along to me. It's all part of the game.
Just remember you score the most points by consistently MISSING the gate. You should be practicing to be at least 15 foot higher than the gate to ensure that I don't have to worry about yet another bad ass pilot in competition
Tell all the crew @ moss point that Katie and I say Hi!
See you on the circuit.

Ian

Uh,,,,,results?
Hey Chuck,
Can't remember them all off my head and some may be a place or 2 wrong (hopefully Chris will post the complete list). Here's the top 10 as I remember them. There were about 23 competitors I believe.
1st - Ian Bobo
2nd - Junior (from Deland)
3rd - Mark Schimmle
4th - Paul Roussouw
5th - dunno
6th - Brian McNenney
7th - Ray Dutch (I think)
8th - Ian Drennan
9th - Greg Compton
10th - Chris Hayes
They changed the scoring system for this meet so that intermediate and advanced were scored directly against one another. The format works well as now the ONLY difference is that intermediates have to hit the 10ft gates and advanced have the 5ft gates. Overall it seems to have done a much better job at making sure an intermediate can't dominate the overall score because of good rounds against other intermediates.
Good job to Chris and the team for improving the scoring system.

Thanks Shimell, it was supa cool flying with and watch you swoop! I'm so glad I was able to make it out and just hang with everybody. I'd love to make it to another swoop comp sometime in the future (whenever that may be). In the meantime, I'll just practice practice practice! See ya soon!

I don't suppose anyone saw me unofficially hit the course?!
Not bad for a non-swooper on a Sabre2-135 weighted 1:1
who is just playing with riser turns.
Funniest thing was after the jump someone asked me if I was Kaz....

.....My comment was "No ~ but she is one bad ass swooper chick!"

FYI...we are staying at the HoJo Express right off I10 exit (850-574-8888). It's about 15 minutes from the DZ and $59 a night
