Why ? 1. spish I couldn't tell but from from some reading it seems that the 21 turns slower than the velocity and it's ground hungry. 2. most likely 21 but read some of the reviews on the canopy. 3. well these canopy's have great openings and fly like a dream im told but come on really who would send there newbie out there on a velocity. Amond experienxed pilots thing might be defined differently. For me: Openings on the 21 cell Xaos are a little more consistant, that said I've got at least 1400 Xaos 27 cell deployments under my belt. They rock. The 27 turns more like a 9 cell canopy, gradual entries that build up alot of speed and have a long smoth plane out. 27 cells carve better with small inputs. The Glide of a 27 cell is more shallow than a 21 cell. 27 cells seem to respond better with just a bit heavier loading than 21 cells. The 21 cell first myth probably comes from the Icarus days when the FX was released. Then a year of so later the VX came out. At that time it was billed as the canopy for the truf surf purise and people assumed you should step up from a FX to the VX. I don't believe that to be the case any longer. Add to all that the VX USED to open like a suicidal frieght train that has lost it's will to live.
