PhreeZone 20 #1 September 14, 2004 The idea has been tossed around before on here about making a "swoopers safety course" style video showing the side of swooping that tends to end up only in the incidents pages of Parachutist. I was wondering if A) There was enough interst in something like this that it would be worth seeking out the material, editing it and publishing it. B) If there was enough material out there to actually make a good video. What I'm thinking needs to be in a video like this is injuries or jumps that should have resulted in injuries. Andy Anderson's swoop in New England pops to mind. Same with Andy F's FoF chow. Breaking of bones and the aftermath would be great additions too. Play it back and explain what the jumper did wrong, what their injuries were and what the result of their injuries was down the road. Make the video so that upcoming people realize the increased danger and the possible results of what they want to do. Anyones thoughts?Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Krishan 0 #2 September 14, 2004 I think that's an awesome idea. A novice swooper like myself could really learn from video w/ explanations of what went wrong and when and what the alternate course of action could/should have been . Good thinking man.... Dont f#%k up......
Brains 2 #3 September 14, 2004 Hey Eric, I like the idea, especially with added insight from the swoopers themselves and some other pros with what went wrong and a proper course of action. Any thought to the added dangers of malfunctions with highly loaded elipticals, like footage of nasty, riser twisting spinners? If so let me know, i got some nice footage the other day. jdfreefly 1 #4 September 14, 2004 No video of the actual impact, but a friend has a nice shot of me laying on the ground awaiting an ambulance. Foot bent at an impossible angle. Audio: Doug - "Daless, what happened?" Daless - "I lost a toggle." Doug - "And then what happened?" Daless - "I went in." Methane Freefly - got stink? TEric 0 #7 September 14, 2004 I'd love to see a video like this! Learning from the mistakes of others is invaluable to us, especially in a sport where your first mistake can also be your last!

Katie and I were up there jumping prior to the PST meet. Nice thud.

jdfreefly 1 #10 September 15, 2004 Yeah dude! I remember you there. That was what you said then too! The end result was a broken heel bone, broken tailbone and a very badly dislocated foot. I'm walking again and in rehab. You saw it, could have been a lot worse. Methane Freefly - got stink?
ivanrockon 0 #11 September 15, 2004 Have you seen the Franken Ass video? There is the famous crash of last year hangar accident in Rantoul among other nasty stuff that you can add to your idea. Ivan "Rock On"
freebird185 0 #12 September 20, 2004 Along with "Frankenass" (sick video, by the way), "Out of the Blue" by Team Extreme has a whole section of wipeouts. However they don't show any of the approaches before the crashes. I think this would be an awesome project. I'd definitely buy it, and learn from it. ivanrockon 0 #14 September 20, 2004 I don't think so. You have to buy it, I saw it in my friends house...he bought it directly from him in Rantoul. Here is his website http://www.frankenass.com/ Ivan "Rock On"
