ManBird 0 #1 September 17, 2004 Well, after all the great times I had on my Sabre2, I've put it up for sale. This is an excellent canopy, but it's time to move on. When you get the chance, please take a minute (57 seconds, actually) to help me celebrate and bid farewell to my trusty old Sabre2 107. What a great canopy. TALONSKY 0 #3 September 17, 2004 I think after looking at the video it should be noted that the pond he is swooping on and near is 200 feet long. There are a few of those swoops that are near if not over 200 feet long. Damn that is incredible for a Sabre 2, not just a canopy for the intermediate skydiver. ManBird 0 #6 September 17, 2004 QuoteDamn that is incredible for a Sabre 2, not just a canopy for the intermediate skydiver. I think the Sabre2 has the widest "range" of any canopy out there. I jumped a Sabre for about 400 jumps and then the slightly smaller Sabre2 for 300 jumps. Basically, if the Sabre2 was out 2.5 years ago and I had it to do over again, I would have bought that and would have been happy with it for 700 jumps. You can learn everything on this canopy because it does everything. Basic maneuvers right on up to 300' downwind shreds on rear risers, followed by a nice shut down. The openings are awesome (note that there is no grabbing of risers on the first opening in the video). Nice and soft and on-heading. If you do get line twists, it still flies straight (as evidenced in the video). Perfect wingsuit canopy for those who want worry-free openings, but still want to shred. Don't ever let anyone tell you this is a docile canopy. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

flyhi 24 #8 September 17, 2004 What's the w/l? The pond looks close to the trees, any turbulence issues? (Other than, "Yeah, every bad swoop!") What DZ?Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
ManBird 0 #9 September 17, 2004 WL is about 1.8:1. There are rotors if the wind is directly out of the west, which is very rare. When that happens I swoop into the open field about 80 yards south of the pond. Either that or hug the trees a bit to get under the messiest part of the rotors (those trees are about 100' tall)."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
Jskydiver22 0 #10 September 17, 2004 Yeah the sabre2 is really a great canopy. I LOVE my saber2 135. Im just learning 45 and 90 degree swoops on it. I have been able to fly it in brakes and land in the pit, to gettin 60 to 80 foot swoops so far. Im really lookin forward to bein able to do a lot more with this canopy, but takin my time. Now im just interested, what canopy are you going to go for now? --I don't even know enough to know that I dont know--
freeflydrew 0 #11 September 17, 2004 I put 6 jumps on a brand new sabre2 135, and I couldn't believe how great it open, flew, and yes people, swooped. I swooped just as long as my stiletto 107, but i definitely had to start the turn lower. If anyone is looking for a great all around canopy, the sabre2 could very well be it. -drew
ManBird 0 #12 September 17, 2004 QuoteNow im just interested, what canopy are you going to go for now?I have a Katana 97 and have been jumping it for about two months. I was going to keep the Sabre2 around for ground launching, but I think I should get like a used Stiletto 135 for learning, and then eventually go to like a Crossfire2 109, Stiletto 107, or even a high-90/low-100 VX or Xaos (if I find a cheap one) for an all around GL canopy, once I have my runups dialed."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

ccowden 0 #14 September 18, 2004 Extremely good to see someone learning all the techniques of swooping BEFORE moving forward with canopies. This is how it should be done! Anyone who thinks you can't learn to swoop without going crossbraced or high performance, should see this! Nicely done! Major props to you! Thank you for sharing that! pilotdave 0 #15 September 18, 2004 I also love my sabre2, although my landings aren't quite as exciting. I'm curious though... anyone ever have problems with turbulence? I haven't noticed anything, but i keep hearing negative comments at the DZ about the Sabre2's behavior in turbulence. The spectre gets recommended to EVERYBODY (probably at least half the canopies on the DZ are spectres), but i've never heard anyone recommend the sabre2. But I've never read anything bad about the sabre2 in turbulence. Anyone ever heard that nasty rumor or is it just a local urban legend? Dave
volo 0 #16 September 18, 2004 Great little video of the Sabre2 doing it's thing. I'm a big fan of the Sabre2 (eventhough I jump a Velocity now) and I'd recommend it to anyone who is looking for that sense of versatility in a canopy. I know my girlfriend loves hers, as well as many other people who own them. Best of luck to you and your up coming canopy! base698 20 #17 September 20, 2004 I jump a Velocity as well and I had so much fun on the Sabre 2. It was also excellent not having to worry about openings for once. The one I was jumping was loaded at about 1.8 to 1 and had some mad crazy swoops on it. I landed with a big smile everytime. If I was independently wealthy I'd certainly have one in my collection. volo 0 #19 September 20, 2004 What's up, Ian?! Yeah, I've definitely got a grin from ear to ear now that I have my new toy in. I bought it used and with a low amount of jumps on it. For sure, I'm lovin' my new Velo. As for the FLPCA, I wish so bad that I could join you all to compete. I'm practicing hard and just having fun with it for now. Perhaps in the future! Maybe one day I'll just able to hang with all you boyz down there in FL and Atlanta. Right now, I'm lovin' every second under canopy. See you at the Halloween Freefly Festival!!!!!!!!Jason Jerusalem life@jasonjerusalem.com
