Dominik 0 #1 March 25, 2005 Anyone seen this?! http://www.hawt.net/viewvideo.php?id=
crazydiver 0 #2 March 25, 2005 What the hell was that? Anyone have any more info on that? Seems like the swooper hit that guy pretty hard, even though it looked like his arm hit the guy on the ground. And surely the guy on the ground could have moved...was he holding a camera and so he didn't see it coming? Cheers, Travis
AggieDave 6 #3 March 25, 2005 QuoteAnd surely the guy on the ground could have moved... Personally I would prefer it if people didn't move, I'll carve off to the side before I'm close.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Canuck 0 #4 March 25, 2005 That's some funny shit. I especially like how the dude makes sure to get his knees up and into the other guys jaw. Some nice diggin' at the beginning of the swoop too. Canuck
volo 0 #5 March 25, 2005 There's a full version of that video on skydivingmovies.com. Closely watch the guy's SHOE during the time of the collision. That's a funny one!
Sabre1Lucke 0 #6 March 25, 2005 How is the full version called on skydivemovies.com? Thanks in advance for the info. Lucke
crazydiver 0 #7 March 25, 2005 Of course, I totally agree with you on not moving, but it seems like if I was standing there with a guy carving around me, a person would still have quick enough reflexes to avoid being bashed so damn hard. Cheers, Travis
freeflycracker 0 #8 March 25, 2005 Actually it looks like he took a last second step into the swoopers path. His reflexes were just...wrong!
freeflyimpaired 0 #9 March 26, 2005 QuotePersonally I would prefer it if people didn't move, I'll carve off to the side before I'm close. This happened at a neighboring DZ a few years back. A friend of mine was videoing landings and one of the local swoopers flew right into him. (early in the swoop, both were hurting) Everyone from that DZ said, "the camera guy should have moved out of the way of incoming canopy pilots," even though he was trying to swoop the camera. My standing has always been that the canopy pilot is responsible for choosing a safe landing area. "Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so." bobsled92 0 #11 March 27, 2005 QuoteThat was clearly staged.. YEP! (I did see a camera man in the Swooping pond @Rantoul. He moved...once. I don't know how long he was out for)_______________________________ If I could be a Super Hero, I chose to be: "GRANT-A-CLAUS". and work 365 days a Year. http://www.hangout.no/speednews/
dragon2 2 #12 March 29, 2005 NEVER move if someone is flying your way. They can't anticipate if you're going to move left or right or what. You can get DOWN though if you have to. Don't get UP if you're sitting down already, either. A thing that happened to a camera flying friend of mine: he swooped a (whuffo) camera guy that was sitting on his haunches, flying over his head with open legs. The camera guy followed him with the camera, thereby just about standing up to keep him in frame. Guess where the camera hit LOL If it's a STUDENT coming my way, yeah I'll move. Students are not going fast anyway. But I don't move for an experienced jumper, that jumper is the one to get out of the way if you're stationary. I did get bowled over once by an experienced jumper with camera-fixation though No "sorry" or nothing ciel bleu, Saskia
frenchyflyer 0 #13 April 1, 2005 QuoteNEVER move if someone is flying your way. They can't anticipate if you're going to move left or right or what. You can get DOWN though if you have to. I have to second that: The only way you should be moving out of the way is...... DOWN Going left or right will result in a 50/50% chance of getting hit. I you lay down flat, the jumper just has to bend its knees a little to avoid you. That said, I think a good rule of thumb is to only swoop by people that know you very well, I always hate to be swooped by someone which I haven't seen yet demonstrate some good canopy skills. Swooping a wufo is asking for trouble in my opinion... Now, back to the important question as I cannot see the vid from the link posted above, what is the name of this vid on skydivingMovies? Thanks, GoingHome.
Deano 0 #14 April 5, 2005 QuoteThat was clearly staged.. Yea I think so too. But the video is a good depiction of "being in the corner". Deano
