Flying skill is what is putting the distances and speeds on the board. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

GQ_jumper 4 #11 April 24, 2005 If Jay was the one that set the record than the canopy was a velocity.History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

CanuckInUSA 0 #14 April 25, 2005 QuoteWhat kind of competition was it? Was it a PST event? The US Canopy Grand Prix (a PST event) is going on in California right now as we speak. This weekend they were swooping in Perris Valley (I have no idea as to who did what outside of Jay's bad-ass but I guess verted long swoop) and now the venue is being shifted out to Lake Isabelle in the South Serrias for a Ground Launching blade running event also tied into the US Canopy Grand Prix. GQ_jumper 4 #15 April 25, 2005 I had completely forgot about the grand prix... thanx bro, and congrats on the comp last weekend. I've alreaady PM'ed Grant to tell him that his first place was bullshit and there should be a recount, but i think he's ignoring me!!History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. CanuckInUSA 0 #16 April 25, 2005 QuoteI've alreaady PM'ed Grant to tell him that his first place was bullshit and there should be a recount, but i think he's ignoring me!! Grant kicked some serious ass on Saturday. Dave (2nd place) did well and the top seven did well in consistently scoring points in most rounds of the competition. But it was clear who the best was on this day. Back on topic, it would be cool to see the video of Jay's 525 foot swoop (even if he did vert the gates by an inch or two). GQ_jumper 4 #17 April 25, 2005 were there lasers being used to track the gates, or was it being done all by eye?History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
CanuckInUSA 0 #18 April 25, 2005 Quotewere there lasers being used to track the gates, or was it being done all by eye? I don't know what the PSTers were using, but I'm sure they were even more sophisticated than we were at the CO CPC event. But I don't believe they used lasers. At our comp we had a camera setup to video the entry gates and then judges also eye-balled us. GQ_jumper 4 #19 April 25, 2005 I'm not quite up on all the PST rules yet but if you vert the gate would that basically net you a zero for the round or just a distance penalty. and if that did happen would it really count(as an official) record, recognized by the IPC?History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. SkymonkeyONE 4 #20 April 25, 2005 Unless things have changed since last season, the PST still uses video cameras to time the Speed runs and to validate clean runs (and verticals). The Dutch are the only people who use a ski-race-style timer/validator and it was their system that was used at the IPC event at Lake Wales. Henny Wiggers brought it over with him for the meet. If you vertical a gate you get the worst possible score for the round. That would be a "zero" in distance.
Levin 0 #22 April 26, 2005 Quoteii heard jay verted by an inch though/... jay didn't get a vertical extension. he touched water between the 50' markers. i was told that swoop was 560', but of course didn't count because he touched water. Johnathon Tagle broke his own world record. Can't remember what the distance was but I believe it was <500'.
