Spizzzarko 0 #26 May 20, 2005 Come on Ian, I know you sea level Sky gods aren't affraid of us mountain jumpers are you? I mean we are equidistance from Cali, and from Florida, so all the new skydiving tricks and techniques get around to us about 5 years after they went out of style. haaa haaa We are just starting free style (pronounced StIlie) here, and I think there are about three of us in the state who are stupid enough to try it. CanuckInUSA 0 #33 May 20, 2005 Quote What was up with the plane yesterday Steve? Yesterday's spark plug problems were nothing compared to today with no fuel at the DZ and a gazillion tandems and AFFs taking up every slot so far. Four hours and counting and load three hasn't even left the ground. So much for trying to get some training runs in today. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
Spizzzarko 0 #34 May 20, 2005 Ryan T was planning on coming out there today to get some jumps too. Should I call him and tell him not to bother? What's this about fuel now? Are they going to beable to operate tomorrow? Grant
BenHall 0 #35 May 20, 2005 So does getting the swoop pond mean wet AFF's? Enough students land over there already, and I'm thinking water being there is just going to attract more of 'em. Well at least when tandems puke and wet their pants we can just send em over to the pond now (haha I was on that load wednesday). Not that I would ever land in the pond by accident or anything . . . . .
Spizzzarko 0 #36 May 20, 2005 I'm sure that if people start to land in the pond, then they are going to get a stern talking to. I'm also sure the pond is going to be HIGHLY monitored for quite awhile. Landing in water is really not all it's cracked up to be, trust me I know! As far as the students go, I'm sure they are going to swap the student landing area with the high performance landing area. I'm pretty sure the regular landing area will stay the same. You guy's dont want us zipping through your airspace any more than we want you clogging our airspace up. It's going to be really cool when it all get's figured out, but expect a lot of people to be on edge when this thing first starts off. I didn't hear about the Wednesday load. What happened? swoopster33 0 #37 May 27, 2005 The dirt contractor has been hired and is scheduled to start next week. (tuesday). He said it will take 4 days to be complete with all of the dirtwork. I will post pics next week! Jason T
tdog 0 #38 May 29, 2005 Jason, With the size of this pond - here is what I want to do... Lets build a 50' pole that can hold a long rope... Right as you swoop by the pole, you can hook the rope and tie it off to ya... I will be on the other end of the rope on my wakeboard, and you can pull me across the pond.... Call it a reverse para-sail. I like to wakeboard at 20 MPH, but I have gone 60 MPH... So you pick the speed.... I will let go in time for your flare. But seriously, congrats on the pond! swoopster33 0 #39 June 6, 2005 I was out at the pond today. The dirt contractor has finished digging, and is ready to start the "clean up' work. The pond is HUGE! Lyle Presse flew into town today and will be here for the rest of the week to oversee the final construction. We should be ripping it up very soon. SkymonkeyONE 4 #41 June 7, 2005 Most modern ponds are in the 2.5 to 3 foot deep region. Shallow enough that you can stand up and get your rig out of the water, but deep enough to take a pretty hard glancing blow without pounding into the bottom.
