marks 0 #26 August 17, 2005 Quoteand it can also cause you to plow into the ground if applied wrong, maybe this guy should seeek canopy coaching before we kill him ;) ( that includes my previous advice ;) ) lol... yes it can i heard an AFF instructor, of all people, once give advice to a girl who was having problems with her landings and about 75 jumps. he said "hold deep brakes till treetop level then let the canopy "surge" forward and build speed so that she has more lift to flare with" i had to make sure to pull her aside and not only explain why "NOT" to do that, and then i had to explain why an aff instructor would give that sort of advice. you havent felt riser pressure till you jump a vx loaded at 2.5, there are ways to pull them down. but why do you have to fly with your risers? harness works great, but only at higher wingloadings. i would say some one on one coaching would be your best bet. and if you come to www.skydivethefarm.com one on one canopy controll coaching is available every weekend for free. just ask.and very soon, i will be offering 1 on 1 canopy controll coaching "under canopy" from 14,000 ft. with radio contact between us both. You don't have to be anywhere near the ground to try this out, and in fact you shouldn't until you have a grip on any new technique.
