Who's Flying What???

Recommended Posts

Hey all, just trying to get an idea as to who's flying what in the CPC this year. I'm flying non-crossbraced (Katana 120 loaded @ 1.9)...didn't know how many others there are. Let us know what you're flying, loadings, districts you're in, CPC goals/swooping aspirations...also, with the "apparent" new rule of 3-out-of-5 gets you to Finals in CO, how many think they'll be there at the end? I guess I'm just excited about the up and coming season and trying to rally up the troops...B|B|B|

last year most of the guys in our region (NW) were flying xbraced, and we had everything: xaos, vx, and velo's. we had 1 competitor on a katana 97 as well who did pretty damn good.

this year i'm guessing we'll see some jvx's as well.

as far as who's going to colorado, i know i am.

I will be flying a canopy made of ZP and it will have lines from the canopy to my harness.

I don't know. I was thinking of using a ZP canopy which was attached to lines and the lines were attached to some risers which were in turn attached to a container via a 3-ring release system. This way when my canopy tries to kill me, I can cut the bitch away. :o

Who knows where I'll be competing (if I'll even be competing at all). I'm still waiting to hear about my options of what regions will exist and their respective schedules. But I am expecting the CPC competitions to be twice as competitive this coming season as it was last year and I certainly am going to go into the season with realistic expectations of just trying to be safe and then to just do the best that I can do and not worry about the other pilots. Unless I sell my home and cutaway (isn't going to happen, at least not this year), there's no way in hell I will be as current as I was last season and currency is the key to flying well. But if/when I do find a region that I can compete in, I will be using my JVX 96 for speed and distance rounds and I'll be using my Velo 103 for zone accuracy. I'm also hoping to shed that anchor on my canopy called a dbag & pc in favor of an RDS system. But I'm currently in debt and forking out several hundred bucks on an RDS isn't in my short term future.

I miss CO and this wet wintery BC pacific northwest weather absolutely sucks almost as much as the $24 hop n' pops and $34 full altitude jumps I now find myself paying here in Canada (all the while making substantially less income and having to pay way more for everything else in life). It sucks to be me. But what can you do when you're born as an ice-back ... eh? At least I'm back playing competitive hockey again and have access to some BC bud. :)

Hey this would not be good for my winter skydiving endeavors, but I could move to Calgary and take up recreational skelton racing and/or recreational ski jumping at Canada Olympic Park. I think ski jumping has some similarities to swooping and skelton, well it's just a huge adrenaline rush.

I was thinking about finding a fat friend to bring along and do it under a very highly loaded tandem...then again, the front riser pressure is a *bit* higher then most sport canopies.

Well, in that case I'll stick with my usual XF2.

I know just the coach you need.:D

I will be competeing in the TX division on an H-modded cobalt 105 loaded 1.8:1 No wieghts, no RDS. My goals for the year are to improve my consistency at each meet i attend. Nothing more. Colorado, i haven't decided yet i will need to see the dates and see how i can work that in.

I'm not sure how much I'll be able to dedicate myself to it this season, but I definetly want to compete in a few at least to get the experience. I'll be no where close to competetive with the top folks, but it'll be a good experience. I'll be jumpin a 96 velocity most likely.

Cheers,
Travis

Katana 120 loaded @ 1.9

You should be able to hang with the xbraced crew on that canopy. I personally am going to slather my fx in grease and see if that helps.:D

CPC NorCal District, Sabre2 135 @ 1.8

Hey Iwan, you can lighten up on your wingloading if you lose your monsterous camera helmet.

Um [:/] That's without the helmet my friend.. I'll wear my helmet in the speed round to get myself closer to 2.0, since I dont own a weight vest..

Go get um Jeff, hey when do we start getting to see your freestyle swoops at the DZ?

When we get a swoop pond.:D The stock pond is fun, but dangerous and not practical for good training.;)

I will be jumping a Velo 103 loaded at 2.2
This will be my first year competing and I plan to get to all five NORCAL events. I am not sure about CO. My goals are to have fun, learn a lot and not hurt or embarrass myself.
What's up with the new weight classes? I haven't heard this.

Nothing that I know definite yet, details will be released at the end of Feb or thereabouts. If you go to CP.com, you can find a poll on weight classes which might give some indication of what they might actually be...
