ffcmerino 0 #1 December 11, 2002 Its in good shape - has about 300 jumps on it. What would you all say is a fair price these days?
skygod7777 0 #2 December 11, 2002 now, since i don't care for sabre, but i can say a canopy with 300 jumps is still a decent canopy. i would say about 800 bucks, maybe 700 or 750 even. just my opinion, later

BikerBabe 0 #6 December 11, 2002 What size is it? hypothetically, how much would one pay for a Sabre 120 with 75 jumps on it? DOM 1996. Just wondering.Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
ffcmerino 0 #7 December 11, 2002 Actaully I'm going to be selling not buying. Its a Sabre(1) 170. It was made in late 1998, about 300 jumps in mainly Southern Cal (some Nor Cal and Fl). Lines are very good - doesn't need relining. No holes or rips at all.

skybytch 273 #9 December 11, 2002 $700 - $800, depending on how fast you want it to go away. This is assuming the line trim is still good.

Do you really think that's realistic nowadays for a used Sabre "classic"? It just seems to me that sometimes gear just falls out of fashion, and though it might technically be worth a certain amount, you'll be hard-pressed to find someone to pay that much. Take the Sabre...I don't meet many people who want the outdated version. So even though it's a great canopy, it's last year's model, so to speak, and thus hard to unload. I've seen this happen with other kinds of gear. Maybe I'm just absorbing what's happening wrong, but I still think you'd be lucky to get $800 for a used Sabre I right now.Skydiving is for cool people only

I have a Sabre 170 with great lines and material and about 500-600 jumps and been looking for a buyer at $600. Not a bad canopy, theres just so many that even I consider "better" for similar money.Goddam dirty hippies piss me off! ~GFD "What do I get for closing your rig?" ~ me "Anything you want." ~ female skydiver Mohoso Rodriguez #
 ZigZagMarquis 9 #12 December 12, 2002 Hmmm... a buck a jump used to be a rule of thumb. So, 300 jumps, take 300 bucks of the "new" price. However, I've seen several canopies bought for a song by someone who low-balled the seller by waving cash in front of them NOW... like, "Hey, you want $750 for that canopy, well see here, I've got $550 cash here right now, what do ya say?" ... and on the other hand, seen folks pay way too much for a ragged out F111 canopy or an old ZP canopy that needs a like kit like bad. edit... of course what in "style" has a lot to do with things too. I'll bet I could walk onto a big drop zone with a used Cross-Fire that is in desperate need of a line kit and get more for it then an F111 PD190 that has less then 50 jumps on it and has been vac-bag sealed and in a deep dark dry closet for 10 years. The price of the used Sabre "classic" won't really start to drop significantly until more used Sabre2's become available on the open market... then the prices will probably start to drop sharply... Which will be a good thing for buyers on a tight budget, because the Sabre "classic" will still be good canopy... but it'll suck if you're selling one.
